5 year boxing career

So a 5 year career would be a little short for most boxers.

In my opinion a fighter is most often at his best after 5 years as a professional boxer, I've always noticed that. (Mike Tyson is an exception).

Tysons just a crazy mothafucka to start with, everybody has issues, but just think when you were 19 and 20 and you were one of the best fighters in the world at heavy and everyone knew you, money, fame all the trappings of success tore him up even more mentaly cos he would be involved with people that would think he's a true piece of shit but still sniff round to get some cast off or loose change. Its a massive combo of all these things no wonder he's a touch on the mad side, i still like him loads though :D

so what's the story on Tyson? How was it that he got so angry and menacing in the ring? I heard he was from Harlem and talked with a lisp so everyone hated him and cussed on him and someone killed one of his birds (lol) and he just flipped?that true? Thats true, apart from im not sure if it was Harlem.

well you can have success record wise...but as far as stardom, belts, money, etc...that all comes with fighters having that "IT" factor...either in personality or in the ring... you will not achieve stardom if you just boxing like JMM with no personality...as good as he is, winning isn't enough... winning like Mike Tyson or good looks like a DLH (and the fact that he is Mexican) is what gets you to that point early... so in short...either be ubber talented, great charisma (good or bad), ethnic background (like PR or Mexican helps, you have to admit), or all of the above you need those things to achieve stardom and a fan base...then with fanbase comes managers and promoters who can get you the title shots and big fights...then with big fights come PPV and headline attractions...and with ppv and main events come big money...and with all of that come exposure to the public... then you combine your success in the ring with your success out of the ring...and you have a great fighter with a lot of money and fans... but first, just worry about waking up 3-5am and getting your mile run through...lol...you have to start from somewhere

It is extremely possible to have a credible and reputable career in 5 years. It depends on a myriad of variables, i.e., level of competition, promotion, what "type" of fighter you are, if you are on television frequently, and how often you fight, just to name a few. If you can assemble a couple of those listed above, at the right time, you could be a champion before you know it.

I need an opinion, can you get success, fans, and a title shot in a 5 year career? It's very possible De la hoya had his first world title shot in 2 years. Mayweather had as well. Mike Tyson did enough in 1 year to go down in history easily. A lot of fighters especially the higher caliber ones usually achieve success early on and the olympics help greatly. Jermain Taylor and Miguel Cotto are proof that huge success can be achieved in a 5 year plan.
