I don't understand why people in this forum hate on Trinidad so much. Okay I understand the arguements that he was one dimensional but if this was the fact, shouldn't credit be given to the man for being the best one dimensional fighter in the history of boxing, not trash him for what he has gained. I understand why people question his style or his fathers tactics but after watching some of his fights, this guy has nothing but respect from me. Yes he lost to Hopkins but Trinidad was chancing GREATNESS he was moving up in weight like an elevator going up.. I know people will post stupid or negative remarks on here and thats fine, just shows the lack of boxing knowledge and education. Think about this deeply people what has your favorite boxer done lately? Has he moved up? who has he fought? How was his quality of his oppenent?
Yes Hopkins beat him easy but what was hopkins chancing, he hasnt moved up in weight, all he's ever fought was blown up guys to gain his fame. Imagine Trinidad at 147 or 154 for that matter for 15 guys he would not lost at all. I don't care who you place in the ring with him. Im just saying if your a real boxing fan you know this man was great for the sport and what he accomplished in the ring was remarkable. Give him his due REAL BOXING FANS....
I dont like Tito Trinidad and I hate his bias fans but, I was disgusted when I saw the Vargas fight and everyone knows why, he was definitley over rated, and I hate the fact that he lost to DLH then acted like he deserved the win and then had A FUCKING PARADE who the fuck has a parade after he loses. Other than that......I guess he was alright.
Hell Trinidad-Vargas was some good stuff too maybe Vargas will start fighting some good fights again since he is back.Think hes got it left in him even though he is still young shit that would be a good thread.
Vargas is finished
Definately, Oscar at his best..

I have rarely enjoyed watching Oscar DeLaHoya fight.
The guy is a raw boxer. What's not to enjoy about him?
You can always fast forward through the in between round scenes, since you loathe his trainer.
i got nothing but respect 4 tito. yea he was 1 dimensional, but he was pretty good. he fuked up vargas, joppy, mayorga. he had a couple loses on his record but everyone duz. i think people hate on him becuz his losses were horrible. he was dominated bye, de la hoya, hopkins, and winky. but he was an exciting fighter with lots of power n his prime. big ups 2 this boriqua ;)
I have been a hardcore fan for almost 25 years. I'm just a white guy who lives in Philadelphia. I'm not someone who follows a fighter because of GEOGRAPGHY.
I think Felix Trinidad has given a tremendous amount to the sport. I loved watching him fight since the first time I saw him against Blocker in '93.
Love his punching style....& his fierceness. Loved his ambition.
Saw him fight twice, in person, & believe the electric atmosphere at his fights is unlike anything I've ever experienced.
I really don't care about those who hate him, or are constantly calling him "one-dimensional" & "overrated".
I know the fucker was awesome, & for a good period of time....gave the sport a lot of great moments & performances.
I agree with this right here.
Trinidad may not be real high on the all time great scale but he is an all time great and a future first ballot hall of famer whether some people like it or not. The man had the longest uninterrupted welterweight title reign in history and then moved up to face two champions at 154 and destroyed thier careers. Then moved up and damn near walked through William Joppy who wasn't as bad as some people try to claim and then loses to one of the best middleweights ever in Hopkins. I have no doubt as well that if he got past Hopkins he would of faced Roy Jones and wouldn't of let no negotiation bs stop him from doing it. Yeah he would of lost to Jones but he would of fought him regardless. Then Tito retired and came back against a guy who was supposed to be the most dangerous opponent for him and destroyed him in 8 rounds. Yeah Mayorga was tailor made for him but that's not what everyone was saying before the fight except for me and a few other people here at Boxingscene. Then instead of fighting another tuneup fight Tito goes right after Winky with no fear of losing.
Tito was great for boxing because he took on all challenges without question and didn't use negotiation tactics to avoid fights.
I agree with you and Jack...
but some people act like he is a god and it sort of gets annoying you know..he is a very exciting fighter, what I mean by one dimensional is he fights AWESOME against brawlers...but not against boxers...
I think he could beat Taylor right now..
but some of his fans REALLY piss me off(not you)...
that's not true.
Trinidad has not fared well against the VERY BEST boxers, not just "boxers"
You have to be an elite-type boxer to beat him....or else guys like Carr, Reid, Vargas, Joppy, etc...wouldn't have been wasted by him.
Then again if the guy was winning all the time in dramtical fashion and even at times after getting knocked down he would come back and fight even harder and KO the guy in front of him wouldn't his fans have a reason to feel that way?
I'm not saying that you're reason isn't good enough but,you have to look at it from both sides.

Alright that's the thing.
Some fans act like even after coming back from a knockdown his fights were easy and he knew what he was doing.
You can give your fighter props for having the heart to get up and come back to KTFO the guy, but sometimes they just act unrealistic.
Totally agree on that man, I can see some people taking it to the extreme like that.
