This is a quote he made at 2days press conference.
"It was one of those perfect punches," Tarver said. "Will I be fortunate enough to hit him with that punch again? I don't know…I think it will be a more competitive fight."
Sounds to me like he thinks he got lucky with that punch.
Tarver also said that Jones should not have been in the ring with Johnson that fast, he said Jones shoulda been suspended for 90days from the concusion he got from Tarver.
What tarver is really saying...is that he knows that was a great punch....so he isn't going to go into this fight thinking he's just going to waltz in & KO Roy whenever he feels like it.
He's saying he'll go & fight the fight, as opposed to getting one-punch crazy. Smart approach.
That's exactly what I think he is saying. Tarver is cocky as hell but he isn't dumb to think he just going to go in there and knock Jones out. Tarver's going to come ready to fight and give Jones another very competitive fight unless Jones is completely shot which I don't think he is. Jones confidence was shook after the knockout loss and it showed in the Johnson fight. He needed this time off to get his head straight.

MNash...

jones fought johnson 4 months after getting KO'd, so that doesnt make sense...
jones is 36, has been KO'd badly 2 straight times and by Oct 1 will not have fought in a year.... i dont see how he's gonna win this one...
The funny thing is, if Jones beats Tarver this 3rd time. I believe Jones-fans will give Tarver more respect than if he beats Jones this third time.
Makes no sense to me, but that's the way it goes.
tarver looked tired against johnson, if he's gonna show up in that form against jones, jones can win it. thats assuming jones is in tiptop condition. i would go with jones.
i think Tarver is saying that he might not land that punch again and saying that it will be a competitive fight because he wants to sell the fight. that, and he wants people to think that Roy Jones Jr. isnt shot. the loss to Tarver was one thing, but being ko'd by Johnson and looking absolutely terrible in the process, has most of the people in the world thinking Roy is a shot fighter. Tarver doesn't want to be know for fighting a shot Roy Jones , so he is being a little more respectful and humble in hopes of trying to sell more tickets. i think it is P R work actually, just to get things started, later on is when trash talking might show up in the promotion....Jones is still the main draw, kind of like Tyson, people want to see what is going to happen next. is Roy going to be great again?or get KO'd? it doesn't matter who he fights either, Tarver needs Roy, more than Roy need Antonio. also i think this fight is all about money, cause after two ko losses, he steps back into the ring, right in the thick of things,. no tune up. i think that if Roy was really serious about coming back, he'd take a tune up. the reason he doesn't i think is because him and his team are afraid that he might lose again. why risk losing for little cash, whe you can make more for you efforts. win, lose, or draw with Tarver, they both make fat cash. if Jones lost to a tune up...no cash!!!
thats what i think......
He got real lucky in the rematch. Tarver had no pulse in that fight until that one punch. It was a shut out.
It was one fucking round, you jackass. Real shut out.
I always thought it was a lucky punch unfortunatly now because of that lucky punch we have all these Newly Jones haters! I cant wait to see the rematch, especially if Jones comes in as good of shape as he was if not better! Go Jones

LOL. I guess if you want to call it a shut out because Roy Jones won the only completed round of the fight, you have that right. I think that sounds dumb.
Some people are just dumb, Jack.
He knows that he caught him with a great shot-- the perfect shot-- he doesn't know if he will again. He said he caught him in the interview after the fight, what's the big deal?
well actually tarver was acting like he ment to do that, after the fight he was liek judge that, judge that, then he was all over TV talkin bout it, he definatley didnt sound like it was lucky back then.
This shit talking in the first fight was just to get it to happen. His shit talking in his the second fight was from the feelings of being robbed in the first fight and to get a second fight to happen again. He said from the jump that it was a perfect punch. Why is everyone acting like it's new?
Is it because he said he doesn't know if he'll land that shot again?

Tarver has been calm when talking to the press about the fight but on boxingtalk theres an interview where it says he talk alot of trash. I think the KO of Jones in two rounds was luck but at the same time it screwed Roy up mentally.
