How come everyone acts like Roy is going to be killed October 1st. People keep saying he is going to get seriously hurt and not be able to talk. How come? Does he have a brain injury? Did I miss somthing? If he doesn't then why does everyone keep saying this? They didn't say it for Tyson, Corrales, Castillo or hell even Tommy Hearns. But Roy Jones is at risk even though he was barley hit in the head his whole career. How does that work?
not going to get killed but yuo cant blame people questioning his heart after his last two fights.
he has a chance but his main thing was always his shape speed stamina etc. and after such a long brake i dont know if he can be the same RJJ who dominated almost everyone he faced
I think we will see the best Roy Jones that he can be at 36 years old come October 1st.

I don't think that we should be "overly" concerned about RJJ, he still has some fight left in him. There is a 50/50 chance that he could get hurt in this fight, and the same probability exists for Tarver. We can take into consideration the last two fights, we can factor in Roy's layoff, we can factor in Tarver's not so "extremely" impressive showing versus Johnson, but, the truth is, we don't know what is going to happen until the fighters enter that 20 by 20 squared circle. Then and only then, can we truly weigh-in on either fighter's well-being.
Because after the first concussion, you become more prone to concussions. The more concussions you get, the worse your brain ends up. It's simple, really.
If he can not get KOed, he'll be fine.
All I can say is that Jones should never fight again because he is way over the hill! If two average ability fighters like Tarver and Johnson can beat him( 2 guys Jones would have annialated in his prime), then he is foolish to attempt this comeback of sorts!
Later brother brologs.
Later brolog... :)
I know, I don't understand why people say that I think because he got a concussion in his last fight and many people think he is over his prime but I think if he is prime condition as he was 4-5 years ago he should walk over Tarver and give him a boxing lesson. Tarvers shot was so nicely timed it would of knocked out anybody and gave a lot concussions.
I just know that fighters like Tyson, Holyfield and even Trinidad have taken more of a beating in career than RJ. And no ones talking about them getting permantley injured if they fight again. Well maybe Holyfield...who should be barred from boxing for his own good...
People aren't to serious when they say that, people say stuff like "Yeah I bet this guy is gonna rip him a new asshole" its just stretching it out of proportion. People who r saying this simply think tarver will win the fight.
No I mean people talking about permanent damage to Roy Jones if he fights again. I think that is going to far...

just cuz he got concused (sp) <-- its prolly not even a word
back to back
thats all
theres no actual medical reason to say hes more at risk then anyone else
maybe people are scared that hell end up somethin like ali
and that itll hit more at home since we, fans of the current sport, watched him in his prime
and well also see him in his demise
not just old tapes of what he was
but we lived it
