Just as I've been saying for months, wins against old guys means nothing. If Lacy fails to beat a washed up Calzaghe, just imagine what Calzaghe would of done to him in his prime!
No way... Calzaghe is one tough bastard!
If he gets into a brawl... Lacy will need a shotgun rather than a left hook to stop Calzaghe in his tracks!
I think the result is more likely to be Calzaghe by KO in 6!
nnnahhh i dont think so. Reid was never knocked down ever but now he gets knocked out. oh wait he was old. o yea thats why he lost. hes not in his prime guys. do all the fans wanna believe that cuz hes old he got knocked out? if hes old u would've seen it coming but no i was hearing Reid is one tough customer. Never been down b4. He will give lacy his first loss. blah blah blah. now u come with this bullshit. gimme a break.
It was SD & most British people thought that Reid won the fight.
Not really it was pretty much split down the middle.
The fight was close and you can argue for each fighter being a round or so up
the only thing that zaggie can use is his speed. repetitive flurries will frustrate lacy but i think once he feels his power he wont want to get into exchanges at all. LACY KO 6!
Lacy beating Reid was obviously expected cos Reid hasnt looked good for so long but what was not expected was knocking Reid down four times ..! That guy has punching power to boot I think .. I dont think he can beat Calzaghe but I do think that he'll maybe be Calzs toughest fight due to that punching power

thats precious, already planning for your excuse when Lacy wins in November? i guess you are planning ahead :sucks:
JuyJuy is saying they are washed up so he has an excuse for them losing....
JuyJuy has been saying that they are washed up on here for months, because it's the truth. Lacy wouldn't of stood much chance against the 1996/97 Reid.
I always thought he had excellent accurate punching and output. Hard to hit as far as that one fight I remember. He also beat Omar Shiek, who's no push over. Omar had Lacy in trouble in the early part of their fight.
Now, remember - I am no Joe Calzaghe expert. I have only seen one fight and he looked like a great fighter.
EDIT - I thought he fought Eric Lucas but he didn't. So I saw only one fight of Joe's.
He's got everything you'd want as a fighter really - fast hands, real power and a great chin. His defence is probably the weakest part of his game. He starts off boxing nicely but it's so easy to draw him into a brawl and his defence goes out of the window a bit then. His offensive output is his main defence when he's brawling and it works pretty well because he's so fast.
what exactly r they washed up from? some champs here r older and if they lose we dont complain that they r washed up. they lost plain and simple. dont blame it on being an old 32/33. Calzagge (Sp) got dropped by byron mitchel (i think). yea he came back to win but imagine what lacy punch will do to him. i dont want to hear no excuses. chavez fought tzysu and got KO'd but that was after 100+ fights so yea he can be called washed up or a former shell of himself.
He was going through a nasty divorce which is why he messed up the potential Glen Johnson fight. The last guy was forced on him as a mandatory defence. No excuse for the other no-hopers that he's fought recently though.
Johnson wasn't Calzaghe's mandatory?? The fight was going to be for the IBF 175 belt.
What's up with Joe Calzaghe anyway and his lack of interesting fights? He looked real good, the only time I saw him fight 3 years ago. I forgot who it was, though.

Well there's no doubt about it that Calzaghe at his best was quicker than Lacy, and more talented. But that was years ago. Like I said I'd be very, very suprised if Joe can roll back the years now.
I'm with you on not being impressed with his last couple of performances but I'm hoping it was just ring-rust and a bit of indifference to his opposition as opposed to him slipping a bit.
I hope so :D

Reid giving Calzaghe credit? what's goin on! Reid does seem like a real bad loser though so I don't know how much I'd read into that.
I thought it was interesting Reid saying that, I didn't think they had any love for eachother.
