Hatton has already said that he wants to retire in 2007, I think Cotto will fight the winner of the Hatton-Mayweather. That plenty of time, i hope he does retire before he get past his prime, he cant fight at that pace forever. I like Cotto but he needs to beat a decent opponent because of the way he beat Corley, hopefuly he will do that and set up the Hatton fight soon. If Hatton retires late 2007 he'll have time to make at least 5 good fights.

His talent, he's always had great talent and was a great prospect.. and Manny Steward predicted in the 90's that he'll be a future all-time great, and I believe he will be as long as he stops ballooning up in weight between fights and starts taking the sport more seriously. Just because its different doesnt mean its wrong, when UK fans predict fights they normally get it right, i hate to make a general comment about a group of boxing fans but i hardly ever see wild comment from UK fans like "Lacy's gonna stop Calzaghe in 2 rounds", "Tszyu gonna stop Hatton in one round" & "Mayweather vs Hatton is a mismatch, you much be crazy to think Hatton will win". The regular UK posters say thing like this "Calzaghe will have a tough fight but i think he'll win because of his ability to cope with pressure and his fast hands", etc. Maybe Lacy will beat Calzaghe but looking at the styles i dont think he will, Calzaghe isnt a text book fighter but he's a very tough, determined fighter who wont be beat easily regardless of what some people think.

Great post, the only bit i disagree with is the part where you say Robin Reid was never world class. he was world class some time back, Lacy beat a bad version of Reid. first off, glad to see this post get back to the top, forgot about it and wanted to see the poll.. and to the last comment there, almost everyone thought, if anything, Lacy would ONLY get a CLOSE decision.
