So I was reading the post and the responses to whether or not Mayweather is over-rated, and it made me laugh.
I don't understand the obsession with Ricky Hatton over in Europe. If and when he fights mayweather, it's going to be the same thing as what Mayweather did to Gatti. Hatton doesn't have the hand speed to deal with someone who is so technically sound and fast as Mayweather.
Kosta Tszyu was never known for using angles, something Mayweather does better than any boxer in any division right now. I'm sure some of you box, and can attest to what it's like fighting someone who is constantly side-stepping or showing shoulder/no body. It's a bitch to figure out and especially to do something about, once you've figured out what you're doing. Add on top of that Mayweather's hand speed, and that is almost impossible to beat, especially for a swarmer.
Hatton's skills are good, don't get me wrong, he just doesn't have the style for Mayweather. Floyd has a habit of making guys look slower than they are. Hatton's tactic of beating and wearing Floyd down, simply won't work. Next to Hopkins, there is no other boxer that is in such peak shape.
Anyways, that's just my two cents. After 7 fights myself, I sure as hell wouldn't want to spar with Floyd, let alone fight him. I think he'd embarrass Hatton just like he did to my man, Gatti.
hatton is the worst possible style matchup for mayweather,
in a sense its like ali frazier, swarmers are the only problem for fighters like mayweather.
floyd should fight a castillo 2
hatton should give away the first rounds and bang on floyd arms, shoulders, body anything he can hit
hatton is a smart fighter, his team puts together good fight plans
the ref will be important, being floyd the smaller fighter, if the ref contains roughhousing he has an advantage
stylewise, sizewise its mostly wrong for mayweather, but this guy is almost safely in the league of leonard, roy jones, sweet pea.
is hatton in chavez league? we'll see...
Hatton is going to pay for coming in so recklessly against Mayweather.
The point is Hatton doesnt charge in wild, he slips punches very well. If anyone can hit him coming in its Mayweather, but Hatton's definitely not reckless.
Next to Hopkins, there is no other boxer that is in such peak shape.
That thread was started as a joke.
Mayweather makes Hopkins looks like a fighter in poor condition, i give Hopkins full respect because he's in brilliant shape for his age but he cant fight the full 3 mins anymore.
Hattons not Gatti, there's no way Hatton will try to box at range with Maywether because Mayweather is obviously better than him on the outside, Hatton will do what he does best, he'll try to get on the inside because thats were he's better than Floyd.
I just hope this fight happens, the sooner the better. Even though i rate Mayweather really highly, he's my P4P number 1, i'm not half as worried about Hatton losing it as i was against Tszyu.
