and if you do what was the best bet you ever made?
i am curious as to what the line will be in the Klitshcko vs. Peter fight. it seems with all the hype that Peter is generating and the concerns over Wlad that the odds for this fight may be a lot closer to even money than anyone would expect. What do you guys think it may end up being???
if the odds are favorable i am going to put some $$ on wlad. i wanted to bet on both Williams and Mcbride to beat TYson and i was too sorry to pull the trigger. man what a killing it would have been...........
sorry if this belongs in the lounge. im a new guy, i pretty much stay here.
I bet on football college and pros,Boxing, and an occasional over under on a baseball game depending on the pitchers.Wlad is the underdog right now but not by much , I also like to bet over/unders on fights rounds.Started pretty bad on college football this weekend only because I fucked around on a couple of parlays which are usually unfavorable for the bettor.
I bet, not as much as i should do though.
Probably the biggest win i had was on the Williams vs Tyson fight, it wasnt cash this time, i bet my girl that if Williams wins she has to give me blow jobs every night for a months. :D
Thats better than money.
I have done really well this year on betting. I only tend to bet on the fighters i have seen regularly before and the one's who i am very confident are going to win- even if the odds are really short (but not too short) or long. I also tend to shy away from betting against the fighters i really like and i never bet with my heart- always go head. My three recent one's was putting $100 on mikkel kessler to beat mundine (even though kessler was favourtie) and i put $20 on talyor to win head to head and $10 on taylor to win by decision. I got $43 back for the head to head bet and $40 for the decision. However i have had a strike of luck recently and a few regrets over some of the fights i have predicted but NOT bet. I didn't want to bet against tszyu even though i thought the fight would be close- it was the long odds they were offering on Hatton that got me interested- i really like zoo so i didn't want to get into a situation where i was barracking for hatton just for the sake of my wallet! My recent lucky break was to not bet trinidad against wright- thank god i didn't, what a mistake that would have been!!!!!!!!
I, as most people on here, won a good chunk on Winky and Taylor. Betting on decisions on both fights made the odds even sweeter.
I just put a $40 to win $400 2team parlay on Barrett and Robin Reid winning. I know its a stretch that Reid wins and parlay bets in boxing are a bad idea but I just couldn't stay away from this bet. I got my eyes on that Castillejo(+360) fight as well.
I bet on sportsbook.com. Ok site, but they are usually late to post the proposition odds and their are tons of sites w/ slightly more favorable odds. That being said the payouts at sportsbook.com are real quick and are via FedEx.
Currently, I've seen odds as high as 3.5 for Monty Barrett to beat Rahman. If that goes up a bit, I will lay down on it.
yeah ive been thinking about putting money on barrett, but i would think that the odds will def get a little bit higher as the fight approaches. let me know if you should see it hit 4-1.
THAT DAMN JUDGE! I CANT BELIEVE IT, AT MOST IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A DRAW BUT HOPKINS NEVER LOST! HOW CAN YOU WIN A TITLE (ALL THE TITLES) WITH OUT KNOCKING OUT THE CHAMP UNREAL! i AGREE WITH YOU MAN
Dont you mean "i hope Hopkins burns in hell"?? He's the one who didnt fight for the first 6/7 rounds.
Um, not really. Ford gave Taylor a round Hopkins CLEARY won, if it were a draw I'd still have my money
man-o-man, i can imagine how bad anyone who had money on JLC felt. to me personally that fight was a travesty. to intentionally spit out your mouthpiece twice is a breach of unwritten rules that no serious fighter has the balls to breach. that being said, i love the guy anyway, a true warrior for better or worse. let the better man win the 2nd time around, and for humanity's sake let it rest at that.
but to the original point. as you said "when the oddsmakers make a booboo" that is what makes betting on boxing so attractive to me. though i cant say i ahve a vast knowledge of all boxing classes, i am confident in what i know, and what i have seen.
and that is why i pose this question.
for all the bitching and moaning that goes on about Vit and Wlad on this forum, i have watched all of their fights, i have seen them in action, and i will not bow down to the opinion of someone who has seen less than i.
there is no doubt in my mind that WLad beats Peter (that being said, i will be man enough to admit my error if Peter knocks Wlad out) mark my words, i am not a Klitscko jock sniffer. i love the sport and i respect the heart of a champion, more than the skill.
i just think that this fight may end up being a good example of " a booksmakers booboo"
any of you who are intersted i will put all of my points on WLad in this fight. The first person to personally message me and choose Peter over Wlad, you have a deal, please double me up, im a new guy with real love for this sport.
You have seen a lot of Wlad Klitchko....very nice...can you tell me how he is going to react the next time someone plays around with his chin?
I think Wlad might be the most gifted offensive fighter in the division but it means shit once the world no that behind that power and skill is china...I think he is worlds ahead (or was) of Sam Peter in technique and skill but the energy he will use protecting that chin of his is going to catch up with him.
Peter is going to be tough to beat...Ill bet you on that-we will have to come up with a figure.
I put $30 on Kostya Tszyu winning by round 6 against Hatton. I obviously didn't win anything.
My most memorable gambling experience has been at the races or on the roulette wheel in the casino
I made $500 when Brewster stopped W Klitschko. I knew he could bang, and the odds were very good.
The best bet I've won in the last few years was $4800.
I threw $100 when the Colts (NFL) went out of the playoffs on 48-1 odds that the Colts wouldn't score a TD. I have a nice balance on one site and figured it was worth a shot.

I lost 1500 on Hopkins ( i hope judge Ford burns in hell )

I love to wager money on boxing but only when I feel the oddsmakers have made a booboo, I have put money on fighters that Im not rooting for but the odds are too good too pass up...
2.5-1 for Mosley against Oscar...I was rooting for Oscar but almost 3-1 was too good to be true, no one new who Shane was.
8-1 McCall vs. Lewis-I was still a youngster and I was in vegas with my parents for 1 last family vacation as they called it... and Lewis was fighting Oliver, I told my dad that he had to put $20 on the fight for me and he put 40 on it...my fisrt big score...got me addicted-I think to this day my dad is mad that I won.
Biggest Score!!!
20-1 Rahman vs. Lewis and my 2nd bet ever with a bookie, me and and a bunch of guys (there were two chicks too) put $500 dollars together... we were all in college and that was the greatest night I have ever had watching boxing-I told my freinds that Rock would get ko'd but if we could get 20-1 he would win three times, that was enough for them and we placed the bet nearly 3 months in advance. The feeling that I had after that fight is better than any drug in the world-if I could bottle it Id be in prison. The bookie had to pay the debt over a 2 month span-he wasnt exactly big time...he put limits on how far he was willing to go after that night.
I also lost alot of money betting against LL, I hated him so much and new his opponenets always had a shot because of the chin he had, I lost on fights like Zelko Mavrovick(I know what your thinking you bet on Mavrivik, yup and he hurt LL in the 7th too) and Michael Grant just too name a few.
I believe it was the week before the LL/rock fight or maybe a couple weeks before it but the same bookie (my first bet with him-pretty nervous) gave me 4.5-1 on Barerra, this and I put $150 on it...I had a hell of a month that I will never equal...I lost with William Joppy a few weeks later against Tito at 5-1 however.
As of late I lost $200 on JL CAstillo which really hurt because I thought the fight was over....fuck Im still pissed. Me and my brother have been doing some parlays for fun too.
Now that Im married My wife watches me closer and she has to approve the bet and the dollar amount before I can go for it....dont get married!

I've bet on boxing all the time. My record is fairly solid so I can't tell you all the big bets I've won. Recent ones that come to mind are Winky over Tito and Taylor over Hopkins. Taylor over Hopkins was a big money winner. Bet365 had a Taylor to win rounds 1-3 on ledermans cards, that was a walk in the park bet for me.
