The question has come up as to what makes a fighter ELite ?
I believe wins over good Competition over a extended period of time makes you ELite . Wins over a host of bums and figthing once a year does not make you ELite .
For Ex. One of the Current ELite Fighters right now has to be PBF because he stays active and holds wins over pretty stiff competition. WHat do you all think ?
No fighter has it all of course but being close to that criteria is enough. I think Ali is the closest to that because hes has the potential physically and he's mentally strong. He fought the best fighters in his era and won convingcingly in the majority of them and even knock them out. Also when almost everybody expects him to lose he knock out Liston and Foreman and defied the odd. He was consistent for a long period of time. Also Louis, Robinson, Monzon , Hagler, Leonard, Hopkins are elite. PBF looks like on his way. I think Holmes should be in there and Lewis but the thing is when thse guys are on their prime, every fight is their to win.
elite I think is as simple as fighting the best in your class, being consistent in both losing and winning efforts vs the best in your class...
nothing to do with whether you have quick release right hand, or explosive power...
it is about consistency at the top and winning more than you lose vs B to A level opposition in conjunction to the time of your career.
there can be 2-6 elite fighters within a division...that does not make you a legend though...basically what you listed SliqueJab is the makings of a great fighter and a legend...
Im going to have to show this post to my friend Richie, I think you hit the nail on the head...I have been saying that a huge penis has nothing to do with being elite for years but I just gave Richie the benefit of the doubt because he has been watching boxing since 84 and I picked up on the sport in 85...Bonecrusher Smith....elite? I know bettter than that!
In all seriousness I agree with what you said, there can be a number of elite fighters in a division at a givien time but legends are far from elite.

What if a fighter has decent or fair accomplishments and a huge penis? Isnt that why everyone said Bonecrusher Smith was so great/elite?
I dont know. I dont study fighters penis's. As a criteria.
Accomplishments make a fighter "elite." Nothing else.

Lol!! According to that criteria - nodody fits the bill, ever.
LoL! i was thinking the same thing. it was a lil too strict of criteria for anyone to make it into.
First he has to have potential physically like skills, quickness, power, reflex, strong chin etc and later be mentally strong like not quitting and give it all out, etc. Second he has to fight the best fighter the world has to offer, no mismandatories, no ducking nobody and beat them convincingly and most preferably knock them out. Third they have to defy the odds which means not every fight is their to win (like fighting bums) and few times they are the underdog. Fourth they have to be on that level for a period of time and prove it again and again. Right now only Hopkins and Mayweather fit the bill.
