"I don't think Hopkins ever had any fans. Maybe all the people who hated Trinidad or De la Hoya switched over."
I think you're probably right. The guy had a very small fanbase until people realized he was going for 20 defenses. Now everyone seems to love the guy, when frankly he comes off as a total asshole to me.
From what I heard by no means was the fight a robbery...
Hopkins did not convincingly win any early rounds and neither did Taylor from what I hear..
but I haven't seen it...
I will judge for myself tommorrow...
Someone who would even think that should not consider themselves knowledgeable in boxing whatsoever.
Think about it…why would a man who has been undefeated for 12 years, had 20 straight defenses and especially a proud man like Hopkins do that? It does nothing for him other than tarnish his reputation, being defeated on what could be his last fight.
Wow, that one made me laugh for a second or two.
God, Hopkins fans are really taking this hard aren't they? You're getting DESPERATE now.
Now I'm starting to hope Taylor knocks him out in violent fashion in the first round of their rematch and endds his career. I would cry with joy and laugh at his "fans" who have come out of the woodwork over this last year..
I'd have to agree, I was hoping that Hopkins would win, just to make it to the record he was hoping for. But to go twelve rounds with a Champ, to take shots like Taylor was getting, and delivering a 12 round show, Taylor deserves the title.
Love to see Hopkins fight again, but the run is over. I just hope he doesn't retire and come back, keep on fighting or start announcing.

I would put the odds at precisely ZERO.
Hopkins had a bad strategy, one that RJJ identified as stupid from round 1. For a smart fighter with 20 defenses, he should have known better. Or maybe at age 40 we just saw his best effort, an effort that can't be sustained over 12 rounds.
The rematch has a lot of intrigue - bring it on!
Please do everyone a favor, go to the bathroom put your head in the toilet & flush it.
Has this been working for you? Because I've seen you say some pretty stupid shit too...
There is no need to attack one another. This is a forum and people are entitled to express their thoughts for some some feedback.
who with 20 defenses, undefeated for over a decade, a future HOFer, one of the greatest MWs of all time, would consider throwing a fight?
this comes up after every big fight...
I am surprised no one asked whether Castillo threw the fight vs Corrales
When supposed fight fans start talking about fighters, on a high level, "throwin" fights, I have no belief these people really know about boxing. They certainly don't know fighters, & don't use the logic that would show them how fighters at Hopkins' level would NEVER benefit from throwing a fight.
I always ask the dopes who think a guy threw a fight the following, this :
If he was TRYING to lose, why was he jeopardizing the "throw" by actually nailing the guy he's supposed to lose to with so many potential KO blows ?
Think of that one, guys.
Also, don't take it there because the guy you expecetd & wanted to win, didn't do so....& you're looking for something other than the truth.
