and it's weird seeing clips and fights of him at middleweight. i knew he fought and moved diffrently from middle to light heavy...but the contrast was more glaring than i thought.
rjj at middle threw combinations he never threw at LH (or atleast threw as fast and as strong). they showed a clip of him downing maligna and it seemed he was putting more of his body into the punches rather than waiting to counter and pot shot one by one from a distance. he also threw and moved in many more angles and had a lot more head movement.
watching RJJ fight hopkins at middle and watching him fight jose gonzalez at LH...it seems like i'm watching two diffrent fighters. one seems to be the power punching speedster, always moving but can stay in the pocket...and the other is a fighter that backs up (almost always stright back) and pot shots single shot counters.
i know you're going to say it's age that forced him to change his style...but he was only 30 when he fought gonzalez...
ooookay...i made this post so that i could stimulate on discussing about boxing styles, movement and strategy (ie using RJJ as an example). but all we've coverered is 'roy is awesome...no he wasn't...where do i get the dvd?'...lol
well i got it at fry's for 14.99. you can get them at best buy too and at walmart.
one thing roy relied on too much was backing up straight and using that check hook (the move tarver waited on and clocked him...funny how one of the best counter punchers gets KO'd by one of the best counter shot...hehe). it's just strange how he would employ that at LH when the guys there are taller/bigger...
hmm
I should remind you that Roy Jones was Never the number one Middleweight in the world, in 1993 and 1994 it was Gerald McClellan who was the number one Middleweight in the world according to RING magazine.
Another original opinion frm JuyJuy. Agrees with everything that's against Roy and supports his Brits. What an assclown you are.
:bottle:
:luvbed: <--- Eubank and JuyJuy
Roy at Middleweight was unbeatable. If the competition had of been there he would have never moved out of Middle. He was naturally that weight and would have continued to dominated any and everyone. He had to move b/c people wanted to see more competition...

Age is a bitch though and when you really so much on speed, quickness and footwork and those are the first things to go you have to know when to get out.
I have greatest KO's, when did the other two come out?
I preordered mine off the website. You can get them off there for sure.
http://www.greatestknockouts.com/
I've got all three. Greatest Knockouts, Greatest Powershots and Greatest Counterpunches. Some of the fights are repetitive but overall its a good collection.

where did ya get the DVD & how much did it cost?cuz i wanna get it :boxing:
That's like what happened to Eubank (and yes I do have to bring up Eubank because he's my boyfriend). Chris was much quicker at middleweight and his combinations were flowing, and he was a sharp attacker at middle. But at super-middleweight and beyond Chris often only threw single shots then backed off and wouldn't attack as much, probably a lot of it had to do with him permanently disabling Michael Watson.
maybe gerald's condition made him pause just a bit.
in middlemeight you can see many spurts in a fight where he would stay in the pocket and flurry....you never saw that in a jones at LH.
would having one of your best friends suffering from a boxing tradgedy influence you so much? it would probably make me pause too...
