So far i would go with taylor or chico, but i also think it matters how PBF, winky and morales finish off the year because its a close running between a good 5 or 6 guys.
It is a tough call, I think if Corrales beats Castillo again then he is in the running. Hatton is probably in the running. And we always have to keep Barrera and Morales in mind. But for me the winner of fighter of the year is Winky Wright, more just as a recognition of all he has accomplished and the fact that he is FINALLY in the limelight.
I think what he meant was that Taylor was the one fading against Hopkins in the late round.. Or at least that's what I got out of it.
hes still a dumb shit
your officially the dumbest shit EVER.... first off, he didn't win a decision over marquez it was a TKO 9.... secondly, how the fuck is hopkins fading badly...????? bcuz he made 20 straight defences, or that he did not lose for more than 10 years

So far this year it is Mayweather, he has been dominating fighters that people thought he wouldnt. Well some people did. He came up to 140 and people said he wouldnt ko anyone and he did. So far he is looking to good to be beat.Corrales is a close second with all the great competition he has been fighting lately.

Thing is Taylor fought Joppy, not Marquez in '05, though he did win by decision. So he was right about the outcome, wrong about the fighter.
If you think that Taylor is the 2005 fighter of the year, you need to get your head examined. Winning a decision over a retired Raul Marquez and fading badly against hopkins is not what makes a fighter of the year.
A fighter that has two or three big wins is the Fighter of the year.

If Taylor fights and wins in Dec he will also have 3 wins
hmm...yeah, for some reason I was thinking the Joppy fight was in '04. Could be a real tough one to pick this year.
Let's assume Corrales loses and Taylor and PBF both win. If you rate their opposition from 1 to 10 you might get something like this:
Taylor:
Joppy - 5
Hopkins - 8
Hopkins - 8
-----------
TOTAL - 21
PBF
Bruseles - 3
Gatti - 6
TBA - ??
-----------
TOTAL - 9 + ??
Even if Floyd fights a 10/10 opponent he couldn't catch Taylor. Of course my scores are debatable.
Too bad Chico aint gonna win, he was done in the last fight but went deep down in his soul to somehow win. It wont happen again. Castillo hits harder on a consistant basis and has a chin of stone.
Yeah, you're probably right. Chico hasn't sounded the same since that war. I don't think he has it in him to win a second one. But it's hard to ever count that guy out, you know?
PBF will win it guaranteed if he beats a high-profile opponent on Nov. 12. He will be the only guy with three wins. Actually, if Corrales wins the rematch he might get a lot of votes as well. I guess it depends on exactly how big Floyd's opposition is going to be.

hmm
ESPN should never have a say on anything boxing related again. They gave the ESPY to Bernard Hopkins over Corrales, Tarver, etc. That's just IDIOTIC.
How can you say that the fight of the year was Hopkins vs Taylor? It was mad boring until the last 4 rounds when Taylor seemed to be stunned by a few of Hopkins punches. Other than that it was mad boring. The anticipation made it a bit excited cause most people thought that Hopkins would explode, but he never really did.
EDIT: WOOPS! I thought you said fight of the year. Yea still Taylor won a close decesion and I don't think he is the fighter of the year. I'd have to go with either Mayweather or Wright. Both dominated their opponents.
