now i can't agree with nerves here.. you don't get MORE nervous as the fight goes on.. that makes no sense. now i give Taylor credit where credit is due, he was prepared tonite, and will be still prepared (even more so maybe) for the rematch, but Taylor didn't lose the last four round of the fight because he was nervous, he lost them because Hopkins showed up.
Maybe nerves isn't the right word, because I'm not trying to say he's nervous. What I mean is that the excitement of doing so well in a fight that was a HUGE leap in signifance for Taylor might have thrown him off his game. That sort of stuff happens all the time, inside and outside of sports. Just think if you're getting along good with some hot as hell chick in the bar and the more progress you make the harder it is to focus on your game, so the chances of you saying or doing some stupid increases.
I agree that Hopkins definitely turned up his game a notch in the later rounds, but I think if he had fought that way early on Taylor would have been better prepared for it.
I dont know..Taylor was rocked by Hopkins..a few times..you dont think Tito will rock him?..Wright will just win a boring fight..jab contest..lol..but Wrights defense is much better. Taylor will beat Sturm.
although he is one of my fav. fighters...Tito will lose by KO to Taylor! Tito isn't good at getting rid of sum1's jab which is taylor's moneypunch. also the speed will bring tito trouble. tito could win if he catches taylor, or if taylor is intimidated by his power(taylor is young to it could happen). also, seeing how Tito was shut-out by Wright, Taylor would get nothing out of this fight.
Exactly. I really think rounds 9-12 were all about nerves, nerves, nerves. Even though Jermain trained hard for this fight and came in with a successful game plan I'm sure part of him was still shocked that the undisputed title was basically his as long as he could hold on a bit longer. That kind of excitement is going to make you do funny things. Next time around, it all won't be so new, and I think you'll see a much better paced and much more focused fighter in Taylor.

I just gotta say this.
Even though Hopkins took control over the fight, you have too look at some things.
First of all, Taylor stepped up BIG TIME. This was his first big fight, and it was against HOPKINS of all people. The most dominant middle of our time, and perhaps one of the greatest p4p's to ever grace the ring. The experience showed early. Taylor didn't pace himself and wound up winded near the end, another reason why Hopkins took control.
So with that aside, you don't think Taylor will be better next time? Please. Now he's had his first big fight, and a big fight it was. He was tested, he responded. He held on for a win with no gas left in the tank.
The next fight will be completely different. JT will pace himself early and have enough to finish strong. Now he's got that fight under his belt. Now he's seen what Hopkins has to offer.
Taylor is nearing his pinnacle, and Hopkins, no matter what way you slice it, is on the decline. I mean its obvious isn't it? Hopkins lost. Call it robbery or call it legit, but Hopkins lost for the first time in a decade.
From here on out, Taylor gets better and Hopkins gets a little slower, weaker, shakier... Come on guys, I know it's B-Hop, but everyone gets old.
I got Taylor in a clear cut UD in the rematch, or maybe even a late stoppage.

Taylor should retire just like Hatton should, this is the only big fight he will win :p , He should fight Winky Wright, this man has something to prove and would give Taylor a boxing clinic.
I just gotta say this.

I want to see a re-match with a focused hopkins.
Taylor should stay away from winky wright. Winky Wright in my book is one of the top fighters and would school Taylor.
REMATCH !! ... nobody wants winky
I CANT WAIT FOR THE REMATCH!!
They should have it next week!!!! ha...
I don't think anybody wants to fight Winky right now
He's just sick and he cuts off the ring so well
I think both fighters would have trouble with Winky...
It seemed that Taylor was a little jittery...
His inexperience made his punches a little too wide...
He was smothering himself if anything else... stepping in waaaay too much... If he gets confident and learns from this fight... I think he's gonna win against Hopkins in the rematch...
But i do agree with the dude above... i dont think hopkins was ever hurt which is sad. 26 Vs. 40 ... and the 26 year old is the one that got shook.
i said it a year ago...taylor would beat hopkins..taylor would easy beat trinidad and sturm...wright would be a good match

rematch? with Hopkins?..which I see Hopkins knocking the kid out, Hopkins was never hurt, unlike Taylor.
Winky?, Vernon Forrest?, Tito?
HOPKINS

even tho he wants a rematch with hopkins like he said post-fight (cause dude know he got away with one :D ) he has no choice but to have the rematch cause of the clause in the contract
