Why steal the WBC belt from Vitaliy

By Scoop Malinowsky: More Questions: The WBC is now under pressure to strip Vitali Klitschko of his WBC belt because he wants to defend against Calvin Brock in September before meeting the winner of the August showdown between Rahman-Barrett in December. Why are Rahman's people so eager to strip Vitali? They know Rock will automatically get the next WBC shot if he beats Barrett. Why can't they wait just a few months? Would they prefer to steal the WBC belt from Klitschko rather than actually have to get in a ring with him to try and take it the real way? And why would the WBC, if they strip Klitschko as they very likely will try to do, why would they forfeit the sanction fee of Klitschko-Brock? Is the reason because they feel obligated to cater to a promoter who fears the Klitschkos? Why can't Rahman wait just a few months till December to fight Klitschko? It's not like he really deserves the shot anyway, look at his recent victories over subpar opposition. The whole thing is beginning to smell like an all-out Don King assualt to freeze out the Klitschko from his heavyweight world. Will Don King ever put himself in a position to match his fighters with either Klitschko with no options, no nothing? Would he ever put himself in the position to stand at a press conference after the Klitschkos have destroyed Brewster or Rahman or Byrd and stand there in the background like a secondary figure? What would he say then, Viva The Ukraine!?? Funny that you would say this as Wlad is also trying to use the courts to his advantage to do what he wants to do. Would you say that he has fought anyone worth mentioning in the last few fights (At least fights that he won) I guess Wlad going to court is also one of Don Kings Tricks too. The reason that the rock has gone to the courts is because Klitchko has avoided him on three seperate occasions. what does he have to do to get the man in the ring? Point a gun at his head and have him marched off to the ring in the style of an old shotgun wedding? Rahman has been patient and waited on three seperate occasions. For some reason Klitchko doesnt want to fight him and if Rahman sits still and makes no noise he will never get Klitchko in the ring. Klitchko would come up with every excuse in the book and never fight him. He (Don King) put himself in a position to allow one of the klitchkos to be at a press conference after his fighter lost. Remember Brewster made Wlad turn into a tomatoe can. If Brewster had lost that fight then Don King would have had to concede the belt and props to Wlad but he failed miserably. It was a good attempt but for whatever reason he just didnt cut it.

Well, in that case, the challenger would be considered unavailable and he can go ahead and fight whomever he wants. yeah, but rahman could start crying again and try to stop it... he'd try to force vk to wait til he's ready.... i really believe thats the game him and king are playing and they have no intention of fighting on the 24th... if you had a title shot would you really rush it a month after your next fight?

Well, DK is telling everyone that the winner of Rock-Barrett will be ready to fight on Sept. 24th but the VK camp is still trying to make other fights. That is the reason why so many letters have been sent to the WBC by DK's lawyer (Bernstein), Rock, and Barrett. They want to fight on Sept. 24th, even if it's short time after their Aug 13th fight. So, if the mandatory says he'll be ready then there is no reason to make another fight unless you're scared. Hes not scared of Rahman he just wants to fight in September and I dont think the winner of Rahman Barret will ready nobody does. I think what they ought to do is cancel this bullshitt fight between Barret and Rahman and have Rahman fight Klitschko on September 24th, that will be the easiest thing to do. Setting up an interim match was the dumbest thing they ever did....

Here's my take, Let him keep the WBC title, and fight whoever he wants. If Rahman isn't available until later in the fall, so be it. Let him fight Maskiev, Brock or whoever. But strip the man of the Ring Belt. The biggest blow to the Ring belt's credibility was sanctioning Vitali vs Sanders for their belt, which in reccent years was gaining more and more credibility. Since then, he's fought once in 18th months, and it was agaisnt Danny Williams. I would have less of a problem with him fighting scrubs, and taking his time deciding what he wants to do if he just was a WBC title holder. But this whole Ring Belt, in conjunction with HBO, calling and touting Vitali Klitschko as "THE" Heavyweight champion is bull shit. Everyone is at square one at Heavyweight. All of them. None of them are particularly impressive, they've all fought soft opposition to a certian extent, and they're all too inactive. Vitali Klitschko NEVER should have been declaired the "Ring" Champion, and this is evident in the hard facts about who he's fought since, and what he's doing now. The "Ring" title should be held vacent until someone unifies the "WBC" WBA" and "IBF" titles. THAT'S where the liniage should continue. who cares what u think...

how about unless you wanna make sure you have a fight on sept 24. what if the winner is cut or injured? then the fight gets pushed back to dec or later and vk will have to wait and stay out of the ring for a year or more? ....I think the winner will petition the WBC to extend the date after their fight. They are playing a game with that September 24th date and neither one intends to fight at that time. You will get another WBC ruling extending the fight just like you said. It could possibly even be a non visible injury excuse. They are gonna help keep VK even more inactive and make sure he comes into the ring rusty. Mark my words!!!

It makes no sense to me, if they are not gonna be ready for Septembet 24th then why does Klitschko have to wait for them??? i would love to see vk fight rock/barrett in sept. but that seems so unrealistic that they could be ready in a month like that... so again, i dont see the point of not letting vk fight brock in sept and the winners meet in dec..... unless, as that writer points out, that rahman just wants the belt stripped from vk and to be given to him... i really cant see vk being afraid of rahman.... i'm mean really, the guy that fought both lewis and byrd on short notice is afraid of the guy that lost to oleg and ruiz and just barely beat al cole by one round last year?? on the other hand, i dont think rahman is afraid either... i think king is trying to manipulate things to get control of the belts

The Ring giving Vitali the belt was complete bullshit and everyone knows it. First, Corrie Sanders went from being unranked to #3 as a result of the knockout of Wlad. As long as I have been reading Ring Mag (which is a LONG time) I don't ever remember a fighter getting such a big jump like that on the basis of one win. Second, the Ring's policy was always #1 fights #2 for the vacant belt. Sanders was #3 and they decided to change their policy so that in some circumstances #1 v. #3 was OK. I still think Vitali is the best HW in the world at the moment, until proven otherwise, but I completely lost respect for Ring when they pulled that bullshit.
