anyone seen him fight ive been tryning to get footage of him in action, i heard he was very strong
in his book it says he sparred with liston one time and he wouldnt hold back, they were both going at it and at the end wen ruben took of his head gear he was bleeding from his ears
Thanks for that. But he did not commit those murders right? I'm just trying to see why they would change a story so much if it's suppose to be based on a true story. I know it's holliwood but even Mike Tyson's movie back in the day was mostly true to his growing up.
Who knows really?
Carter was released because it was found out, as said in a previous post, that the prosecution broke laws. Not because it was proven that he was not guilty.
As for Tyson, I've heard numerous conflicting stories about his background as well.
they play some of his fights every now and then on ESPN CLASSIC.
Guy did that murder, it is painfully obvious that he killed those people. The evidence isnt there so i guess they had to let him go, but you have to know he did it
There were some blacks in the jury, it wasn't all white.
Carter's career as a contender was over when he went to prison.
The crowd did not boo Giardello when he got the decision.
He didn't go to juvenile hall for protecting himself against a pedophile. He was in and out or reform school for repeated muggings.
There were two blacks in the jury the SECOND trial. No blacks in the first jury. There were numerous brady violations committed by the prosecution. The prosecution mishandled and corrupted their own case. He may have been guilty, but the mishandling by the prosecution made that difficult to believe.
No one can really know if Carter committed those murders or not.
Only he himself knows, maybe some others do as well but won't say it.
But the fact is that his trial was unfair and that's why he was freed from prison.
Not necessarily because he was innocent but because the trial wasn't fair.

The ring announcer (Johnny Addie) does a horrific job of reading the scores for the Benton fight. In a split decision, he reads the minority scorecard LAST. He didn't have much of a sense of drama
I noticed that a lot of announcers in older years often fucked up the drama and suspense by doing this.
Explain further please.

lol i dare say the film embelished the truth a little bit, but hey thats hollywood and what can you expect.
If you look in to the story in depth you will see that there is no way carter should have been convicted of murder though. there are so many glaring ommissions and corruption in that case that it shoudnt of even made it through the preliminary legal stages.
Rubin Carter's story is a great one and i'd recommend the film to you lot. i might even watch it now coz im bored out me skull lol.
i have looked into it in more depth clealry u have 'nt otherwise u would have come to the conclusion Carter was guilty ,i suggest u read up

"Hurricane" Carter's best fights:
Rubin Carter vs Emile Griffith
Rubin Carter vs George Benton
Carter also defeated future HW champion Jimmy Ellis. ;)

Carter was not a technical boxer, he had no real jab to talk of, but had lightening hand speed and a heavy punch. He was a bit of a one trick pony though. He was also never the fittest of fighters and a bit too musclebound to have any great stamina. So against a technically good fighter who could get inside his shots, he had nothing to offer. He fought from a crouch and delivered single shots mainly. Avoid these, tire him out, and build a big lead on a jab and he was in big trouble - unless he got lucky. If he'd been a heavyweight, he'd have done very well, particuarly against bigger lumbering men who'd be perfect targets for his bombs!!
