Vitaliy offered 60-40 split to James Toney.
Toney and Goosen refused and demanded 50-50 ... and this is after Toney had been caught using steroids! Toney is not even a belt holder right now, why should he be offered equal split?
What is worse is that Dan Goosen is now coming back and accusing Vitaliy of being a coward. Goosen is just really DISGUSTING.
Vitali should reduce his offer to Toney further to 80-20 as a response to this trash-talking.
Why did NOT Goosen/Toney take the 60-40 offer ???!!!!!!!!!!!

They need a big name to make any fight happen. Vitali cannot and will never be a big draw on his name alone. If that were the case every Klitschko fight would be on Boxing After Dark, fighting for food stamps!
1. Rahman may not beat Barrett
2. If he does, it's doubtfull he'll be ready for the 24th of Sept.
3. Rahman lost clearly to Ruiz, Toney was out of shape and on a month's notice beat Ruiz
Are you the circus clown of boxingscene that everyone is making fun of, or just some?
There is no heavyweight fight that deserves to be ppv, at all. However, Vitali is the champ and is no less of a draw than Toney, no matter what Toney says. Toney hasn't proven he is a bigger draw, that's just his opinion. Many would disagree because everyone knows light-skinned heavyweights with some amount of skill are VERY popular as they are rare.
If this fight doesn't happen, Toney is more at fault than Klitschko. Klitschko is the champ, period. 65-35 is plenty fair enough especially given that Toney just tested positive for steroids. Did yall forget that?
ye dude i agree with u...
Didn't Rahamn say that he really wanted the Sept 28?
OK. Whatever Rahamn wanted, Vitaliy should fight Toney or Rahman, then Rahman or Toney, then Brewster or Byrd.

I don't think so no. I think Toney's a bigger draw, and plus Rahman already lost to Ruiz.
But Rahman won't be available for the Sept 24th date Vitali's so adament about fighting on, so that's a moot point.

Do a search for yourself.
It was on Boxingtalk, and was a Goosen Interview, followed by a Finkle interview.
I read it as did others here. If you don't believe it and want to search for yourself, go right ahead.
Both interviews were pasted in threads in this forum, so if you wanted to, you could also scroll back in the thread history.
OK... found it
Hey Bozo, here is a question:
what does Bozo_no_no mean? Is this a slang expression?
It was something Jay Nadey barked out at Mayorga I think. He was holding and hitting or something and Nadey said:
"No no no no. That's a BIG Bozo no no".
Would not Rahman-Vitaliy be a bigger draw?

could you give source, pls?

I can't believe this is being discussed in another thread.
Gooesn and Toney DID counter saying they'd take 40-60, and Shelly Finkle's only comment was that they were too far along in the negotiations with Oleg Maskiev.
could you give source, pls?
The bottom line is that RIGHT NOW Vitali doesn't have a fight signed, and there is a BIG MONEY fight (where he gets the bigger purse) and a HIGH PROFILE opponent ready and waiting for him.
Would not Rahman-Vitaliy be a bigger draw?
I think Vitaliy should fight either Rahman or Toney.
...Somehow, Vitali needs to fight Toney IMO. I think this fight will happen and all of this talk may be pure hype for when it does. A fight with Toney would bring excitement and legitimacy to Vit's claim as the best, and at the same time he could shut Toney's mouth for good and we would no loger have to see that tub of shit in the ring.
if he really wants to fight him, he'll fight him. I don't know why Klitschko fans want people to accept Vitali as the true champion, but then defend him when he won't fight the others who might claim to hold that title.
And before the usual suspects show up and call me a hater, if Vitali would fight some of these guys and beat them, I'd give him his due. If he looked good doing so, I might even root for the guy. I just resent how people act like it should be assumed that he's the best heavyweight, even though Byrd and Ruiz have beaten better fighters.
50-50, 60-40 - it's about pride rather than brains. Klitschko will make more at 50% of the Toney purse than 60% or possibly more vs. Maskaev or McBride
Excellent post all the way through.
In the end, you bring up the key point the Vitali fanclub don't seem to understand.
IF he fights Toney at 60-40, that 60% would be MILLIONS more than a 75-25 split agaisnt some clown like Maskiev or a green fighter like Brock.
The Toney fight would be a big PPV, and a big purse.
There is no doubt Goosen's comments are to get a reaction out of Finkle and Vitali to try and hype this fight.

HBO has since squashed that fight, and instead of looking at the Toney fight, Shelly and Vitali are now targeting Calvin Brock.
Toney is the biggest money fight available for Vitali, and it doesn't make any sense that he wouldn't take the 60-40 split and make this fight happen.
It would be his biggest payday, and the best win on his resume should he beat Toney.
Goosen has been trying to make this fight for some time, and is obviusly frustrated.
hmm

Are you kidding? Holyfield could fight in England tomorrow on PPV and it would be bigger than a Vitali fight...
Tyson drew three times Vitali's draw against Danny Williams vs. Kevin McBride with a shit undercard. Fox Sports has James Toney on every BDSSP boxing telecast; Vitali can barely speak coherent English - how can the "general sports writing community" not know who Toney is?
Vitali may be the best - emphasis on the word may - but isn't the biggest heavyweight draw at all...
men in suits don't sell :D .
I agree completely. Vitali is the biggest draw in the Heavyweight division right now. He is the only guy in the division that the general sports writing community even knows.

50/50 split is silly, toney is not a big draw, has no belt and was just caught for steroids... vk could make the fight to shut people up, but economicly its not right... not to mention is rahman is crying like a bitch, threatening to sue if VK fights anyone else in Sept.... VK is going to be criticized and bad mouthed by somebody either way...

But why Goose calls Vitaliy a coward?1) About the numbers you asked me earlier.. it was posted on the same source... klitschkotrashtalk.com, sorry I mean boxingtalk.com
2) Why Papa Goose calls Vitali a coward.... Well the reason is $$$
This will be a major PPV attraction if those two fight.. as a promoter, he jumps to the last resort: name calling, insults, yada, yada, yada... to try to get his fighter a title shot and rip off some ca$h.
As much as I want to see this fight.. I also want to see King say.. Goose, WTF are you talking about Byrd?? Toney has no title --> no fight!
