Every one of you should be hanging from them.
He has never fought an opponent with a losing record.
He took on a 29-7 Glenn Thomas in a 10 rounder in his 8th fight. Think about that ... 10 rounder ... Glen Thomas ... 8th pro fight. If you wanna talk about a test, check out the who's who list who fought Thomas. He went the distance with Michael Nunn, James Toney, Virgil Hill and Mike McCallum. He also went 8 with Roy Jones Jr. ... Lacy blasted him out in 55 seconds.
Lacy won a fringe belt in his 12th pro fight, won a few more in his 15th and won a world title in his 18th pro fight.
and in LESS THAN 20 PRO FIGHTS ....
He flew to Manchester England to fight a 20-2 Cruiserweight.
He fought and beat the recognized Super Middleweight Champion and extremely cagy veteran.
He fought a fan favorite relentless banger in his first title defense.
Even his first mandatory was a 26-1 legitimate challenger.
Half of Lacy's pro fights have been for some sort of belt or eliminator. And what this equates to is a 19-0 World Champion who's only 27 years old, not ring worn at all, and already an attraction. This kid is really special yet no one ever talks about how quickly and fealerlessly he attacked the pro ranks.
All we hear about is how slowly Cotto, Taylor and others are moved along and now we have a guy to celebrate yet he's not celebrated. Step up assholes.
The fight Lacy had with Vanderpool was a grueling one. It was a dog fight till Lacy wore him down with some serious fire power. Lacy has had some good tests with his competition as of lately which is good. People know he's a puncher so they're getting up for him. I think Lacy is going to be a tremendous fighter as he gets more experience.
Siaca is just as over the hill as Vanderpool was. Mundine was talking up retirement and going back to soccer before he even fought Kessler, not to mention Mundine was one-punch KO'd by Sven Ottke, perhaps the lightest p4p htter of all time...lol. Kessler's wins over Siaca and Mundine are enough to make him top 10, or even top 5, but he cannot be clearly rated AHEAD of guys like Lacy, Reid, Beyer, and Calzaghe. After Calzaghe, the top 5 is very arguable and Kessler's spot is nowhere near solid. You can only say he is top 5-6, nothing more solid than that.
Lacy has been impressive given how few fights he has had. They have moved him along very quickly.
To Jang: Lacy is not scared of Kessler. Lacy is scared of no one. Why should he be? Everyone loses but Lacy will not be hurt. His chin is iron-cast. Perhaps Lacyand Kessler will fight one day, but why would Lacy be scared when he is fighting just as highly ranked/respected Robin Reid and is promised a fight with Calzaghe by Frank Warren if he beats Reid?
Obviously Calzaghe is the biggest fish at 168 so why would Lacy forgo him to fight Kessler? There is no reason. Maybe they will fight later on though. In fact, it is probable.
He gets ranked high because he has dominated everyone he's fought. Ring Magazine(2), boxingtalk(2), and fightnews(3). Mundine was KO'd by Ottke in his 11th pro fight and he was winning the fight at the time as well. Siaca isn't as shot as Vanderpool. He wasn't KO'd by some bum in his next fight, instead he KO'd the bum in 2 unlike Vanderpool. He also beat Mundine in his fight before losing to Kessler.
Problem with Lacy is he thinks he's a big punhcer when his power looks far from it, if he went back to boxing he'd be a very hard fighter to beat.
Yeah that's really true. I thought he looked a lot better against SMW prospect Vitali Tyspko. Its too bad the fight had to end in the 2nd round in a no contest. He looked a lot smaller then, and he seemed to be a boxing a lot more.
hmm

he says he will not move up to heavy because he's too short he says.
But I think he will torwards the end of his career..Cuz the way it looks theres no one special from 168-200 so he can make some money if he went heavy eventually..not anytime soon though...He may be short but he can match up well with people 5'10-6'3... I think he would be good at heavy woth some more experiance and I think he will gain power as he moves up....
as yu can see me and lacy bonded as soon we looked at each other in the eyes. man to man, I think lacy will never forget the brown bomber. :D
U are telling the truth...No one not even Lacy can 4get the brown bomber....Joe Louis was great!!!
How so? He dominated Mundine with a bad back who was rated 3rd by Ring Magazine at the time and he beat up on Siaca who is now rated 8th by Ring Magazine. I expect big things from Lacy in the future, but what exactly has he done that is so great to make you think that he could currently beat Kessler. All of his last 3 fights have been close with Lacy either pulling out a close decision like he did against Gatti I mean Sheika, and KOing a shot Vanderpool and a relative nobody Williams, none of which are top 10 SMWs.
I can upload Mundine vs. Kessler to the group next week if you want.
Oh yeah, that would be great if you could upload that. I dont normally like to comment on fighters unless i've seen a few of their recent fights, i've seen Kessler twice(against Siaca and i forget the other opponent), hopefuly the Mundine fight will show me a bit more.
He looks decent enough but from what i've seen i think Calzaghe's too good at the moment. Your right about Lacy, he's not really proven anything, i'd still pick him from what i've seen but i was wrong before and i know Kessler could give him a very good fight and possibly beat him. Problem with Lacy is he thinks he's a big punhcer when his power looks far from it, if he went back to boxing he'd be a very hard fighter to beat.
Has anyone got Kessler vs Mundine?? I'd like to see what all the fuss is about. I've seen a few of his fight but nothing that makes me think he's any sort of challenge to Calzaghe/Lacy.

Ring Magazine has him rated 2, only behind Calzaghe.
So does BM but i think lacy would probably beat him, note - probably - it'l be very close between lacy cal and kessler tho
That sounds so gay. Are you alright man?
cracks me up.... anyway, thought i had an obligation to say something here. i think i agree with most comments here.. he's still growing in the sport but he'll defineately start to make a name for himself soon. :boxing:
