I dont see the diffence in stoppages, IMO both fighters were too beaten up too continue so i wouldnt call either a quitter but there are some bias assholes on here who think its one rule for American based fighters and another the rest of the world.
Both Gatti and Tszyu took a lot of shots and looked hurt
Both sat down in their corners and their coaches decided enough was enough.
Neither man complained about the stoppage
The only difference was that Tszyu lasted longer and it turns out he had brain injurys.
SO WHY IS TSZYU A QUITTER AND GATTI A WARRIOR??
Doesn't matter how it happened or under what circumstances to me, if they didn't come out for the next round, regardless what round it was, they quit. On the real though, I still can't see the shame in quitting a fight when your getting beat down. Gatti had no chance of winning and it looked to me if he went the last 6 he would have gotten seriously hurt, Buddy made the right choice, he cared about his fighters health. I didn't see Tszyu having a chance to win that fight, he was a worn down and beat down fighter and Hatton had plenty more to give him, the last round would've been a lost cause. He didn't have the one punch in him to turn that around, that was shown in the previous rounds when he hit Hatton good shots. So, I can't see the shame in them quitting.
I'll probably be the first to say it but, if I'm getting beat down like Gatti, or I'm the same condition that Tszyu was in, I'll throw the towel in if my corner doesn't do it first. A fighter's health comes before fan approval and appraisal.
Seems like Tszyu was a made-to-order opponent for Hatton, though, just like Gatti was for Mayweather. Of course Tszyu is the better figher of the two, but he's a slow stalker, and just the sort of guy that Hatton can tie up and take out of his game. People might not have realized that leading up to the fight as much as they should have, but just because Tszyu was the overhwleming favourite around here doesn't mean that Hatton is that much better for beating him.
It seems like both fighters fought guys that were just the sort of guys they can beat up on, but because people assumed Gatti would lose but that Tszyu would win then Hatton gets a lot more credit for his win.
Anyway, Mayweather is like the polar opposite to Tszyu, thought Hatton is no Gatti either.
The destruction of Gatti isn't what makes me think that, if that's what you were thinking. I've seen, probably, about ten of Mayweather's fights. He impresses me a lot. I don't think Ricky can keep up with him in terms of quick footedness, and handspeed. I really think Mayweather will win, should they fight, but Ricky definitely has a chance. He's a good pressure fighter, and he never lets up. He also has one of the best, if not the best, body attacks in the game right now.
With the low blows, I've seen a lot of low blows happen from guys who are not dirty fighters, and they are unintentional.
Finally, with the weight class thing, I've only heard it two ways, junior welter, or super lightweight. I didn't know that one of the sanctioning bodies made it light welterweight. You're right though, it doesn't really matter.
Of course, you cant judge a fighter from one fight and i knew you wouldnt do that, i always watch Mayweather fight because he's so good. But its always a good styles match when your talking of elite fighters vs Ricky Hatton, he's got a chance against anyone because you cant find people like him to spar with, you have just gotta hope your style can beat him and i theory Mayweater could do that.
I've always known it as light welter, its a UK thing. US call everything junior we call it light. We dont even call it 140lbs, its the 10 stone divison to most of us.
The Mayweather fight is no harder than the Tszyu fight on paper IMO, i know what makes you think that but there was a lot of things about Tszyu people were saying Hatton couldnt handle. I think Mayweather and Tszyu are very talented fighters, their both extremely good in very different ways, neither have proved to be better than the other. Either way, it won't be an easy fight for Ricky... or Floyd, for that matter.
The only way to know who's the tougher opponent in the ring against Hatton is too fight him.
I dont suppose it matters what weight you call it, its either super lightweight, light welter or junior welter.
BTW, i'll give you that one, he was a bit excited and the nerves probably got to him a bit. I've never seen him do that sort of thing before.
The low blow was fine though, that was just a bit of payback for Tszyu's low blows, i dont believe a fighter as good as Tszyu could land 3 low blows by mistake.

the difference was that Gatti was getting killed and he said he wanted one more round (if he really mean it is another story) in the Kostya fight Kostya was still in the fight if he would have dropped Hatton in that round he could have won. I dont blame him for quitting , who am i to judge on a guy whos getting punched in the face over and over if hes a quiter or not.
I actually laughed out loud at that statement. The only way that would be true is that it'd be easier for Floyd to beat Hatton than it was for Hatton to beat Kostya. Hatton is not a world class BOXER, he's a brawler, and Kostya played into his game. Floyd won't do the same thing, and will beat him. It'd be a tough fight, but there's no way Floyd would lose that.
I figured on Kostya landing a bomb early, and putting Ricky's lights out with that, but he never was able to. Floyd is much quicker, and more elusive than Kostya ever has been. It'd be a DAMN hard fight for Ricky to win, and you know it. The only reason you're saying it'd be easy is to try and piss Super_Lightweight off.
It's Junior_Welterweight, not Light_Welterweight, by the way.
Ricky also spun him around and cracked him in the back of the head in the first. His were intentional fouls.

I'm really really REALLY hoping Hatton gives Mayweather a shot, and defends the crown against Mayweather next... Because I truely believe it'll be an easier fight than the Tszyu fight.

Fucking hell, Hatton landed one low blow as a warning to Tszyu, Tszyu was landing a lot more illegal blows.
If you call that fight dirty your not a boxing fan, because the last time i checked it was a contact sport, a mans(or butch women) sport.
Ricky also spun him around and cracked him in the back of the head in the first. His were intentional fouls.
lol...right. Roy did do that. You musta forgot my limey friend. Hatton has one big win...a dirty one at that. Let's see him vs Floyd.
When will people learn...

Wasn't the audio fucked up in Kostya's corner, though?
I remember them playing Hatton corners audio whilst they were showing Tszyu's corner, after the fight you got to listen to a bit of Tszyu's corners audio, it was just his coach telling the ref thats it, i dont think Tszyu knew what the fuck was going on at that time.
WRONG!! i guess you don't have audio in the corner over in the uk, but Gatti clearly stated at least 2 times that he wanted 1 more round, it was loud and very clear. nice try pal, talk about bias, open your ears brit
WRONG!!
I've got HBO and Sky version, dont assume because you end up looking like a fool.
Saying one more round is a lot different than wanting one more round, Gatti knew he was beat and he did the right thing. What would happen after the "one more round"?? would it be ok to end the fight then, because thats what would of happened.
Anyway, i'm not calling Gatti a quitter i'm just saying the situations were the same.
hmm
Mayweather has yet to prove himself @140lbs... I told you before that Mayweather vs Gatti was a total missmatch... Not because of how good Mayweather is, but because of how bad Gatti is (shot).
I'm really really REALLY hoping Hatton gives Mayweather a shot, and defends the crown against Mayweather next... Because I truely believe it'll be an easier fight than the Tszyu fight.
Anyway.. Ofcourse Hatton will give Mayweather his shot at the 140lbs crown... Hatton's not a fight ducker "cough" Roy Jones...
You remember when Roy Jones Junior tried to get Tarver relegated as mandatory challenger "as not a worthy challenger" after their first fight?... LOL!...
It took Hatton 38 or so fights to finally step up dude. You simply cannot hatre on Roy given that fact. Also, Tarver earned mandatory status and got his shot the right way like anyone whouls do. You talk about Ruiz....that was a good win vs a good heavyweight champ (for this era). Hatton moving up to middleweight and beating a champ there would be comparable, do you see that happening?
I like Hatton. He's a good guy. I never said Gatti would beat Floyd, only hoped he would. I don't like Floyd but he could stop Hatton. Haton could stop him. Floyd is way too fast to make it easier than the Tszyu fight (which was NOT an easy fight for Hatton by any means). Roy never ducked anyone. That's old and played out and you still cannot prove it. It's only conjecture and bias as you would like to believe your Brit fighters. Hatton's career is far from over and you can't call Roy a fight ducker and not call Hatton one because Hatton has only just now become champ. He has not had a chance to bicker and moan and bitch and try to avoid his challengers yet.
Roy fought whoever there was to fight in his weightclass at 175 and every now and then had easy wins against good fighters in other weightclasses (Hopkins, Toney, Ruiz). Right now, Hatton is below Roy is career terms, don't forget that.
hmm
Ahhh... Light-welterweight, You're just pissed off because Ricky Hatton at 26yrs of age has already done what you boy RJJ was never able to do...
Beat the best in his division...
lol...right. Roy did do that. You musta forgot my limey friend. Hatton has one big win...a dirty one at that. Let's see him vs Floyd.

but there are some bias assholes on here who think its one rule for American based fighters and another the rest of the world.
Stop bitchin' already. Brits are more biased or as biased as anyone, so please stop this high and mighty bullshit. Gatti asked to continue, Tszyu did NOT, and it's really that simple. I'm not even a fan of Gatti but you are straight up ignoring wtf Gatti said as opposed to what Tszyu said, and THAT is biased.
Get outta here.
Tszyu was the man and it's ok that he didn't want to continue, but you need to stop with this anti-American bullshit. If you are so high and mighty then why come down to "our" level anyway?
I dont see the diffence in stoppages, IMO both fighters were too beaten up too continue so i wouldnt call either a quitter but there are some bias assholes on here who think its one rule for American based fighters and another the rest of the world.

SO WHY IS TSZYU A QUITTER AND GATTI A WARRIOR??
Gatti kept saying, "one more round," "one more round." Either way, I never considered KT's corner stoppage to be a quit. It's just like them throwing the towel in. It wasn't his decision, the corner made it for him.
I agree with you.
they were both well beaten, i think gatti would have def gone out cold tho, PBF looked red hot last week it's gonna be a great fight if he ever fights hatton
gatti didnt quit. mcgirt told him he had enough. gatti said "no, give me one more round." and by the time gatti was walking back to his corner, mcgirt already gestured that he was gonna end it.
i dont think either gatti or tszyu are quitters. their corners have more control over them in between the bells.
Thats what i said, neither fighter should be called a quitter.
