Tyson headed for 4-rounders?
Mike Tyson trainer Jeff Fenech reportedly headed to Phoenix today for negotiations involving a four-round tournament against the likes of Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe. "Mike does not want to go out of boxing as a loser against Kevin McBride," Fenech said told Aussie boxing writer Grantlee Kieza. "He is one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time and is still explosive for four rounds. He doesn't want to compete in ten-round fights because after 20 years as a big-name fighter it is hard to keep backing up in the gym."

Sounds great, it gives them a chance to go out in glory and capture publics eye one last time. At the same times doesnt put them at such a health risk. (Great for Holy and Bowe). This is truly great and remarkable for these great warriors I believe. The people still love them and they want to fight, it is good to see this is being done right.
It gets my acceptance.
Good point, you wouldn't want this to get too ridiculous. Plus some of these guys might feel reluctant fighting for what they might perceive as a "senior's" title. Still, they might like it just so they can stay in boxing and stay in their old routine of training for fights and hanging around the gym.
I bet they would still get paid million and way above what most get now. However, I would like it to be a 6 round hell maybe even a 5 round that way their is a lower chance of a draw.
It has its ups and downs but I could see it turning into a disaster.
Mark my words, if Bowe fights Tyson it will be a train wreck. Tyson always has problems with a bigger man that has heart and Bowe cant even defend himself anymore but he still has a lot of heart.
Well everybody knows Tyson draws better but wouldnt it be something though to have this tournament, however I could easily see Evander saying FUCK OFF, I want to compete with the young guns in the sport and not accept it. However, Bowe and Tyson would probably agree. It sounds like a good idea just as long as they dont milk it to long and start throwing Holmes, Foreman back into the mix.

I'm in favour of this as well, and I'm sure the ratings would be huge. The only problem is that if they keep this up the senior heavyweight fights would probably draw better than the ones involving the current champs, which would be a bit embarassing.
Boxing has to do more to take care of its greats. This is a step in the right direction.

First, I knew that the "Tyson comeback" threads would start popping up on these forums, just not this quick! :p First, the Foreman one, now this one. :p
Secondly, if Tyson(and Fenech)didn't want Mike to go out a loser, than why did Team Tyson quit? It's not like Mike was in danger of losing the bout. I'm not buying into the hype this time, just to be let down once again.
Bostonguy-I am not a huge fan of Tyson and I would consider him done but this is a good way to keep the old ones fighting without getting much damage done.
Also on a side note, if Tyson fights 4 rounds against Holyfield he still loses lol. If anybody stays in their for 4 rounds against Tyson he still wont be able to pull off a win. It has an upside and a downside. I say the winner of the tournament gets Butterbean.
