What do yall thing the best movie, is i here the new cinderella man movie is the bomb. i just went and picked up the ragin bull movie. life of jake lo ' motta it is awsume directors cut. great movie i thin every one should pick it up. Though it is in black and white.
This can be credited to Michael Mann's directing. And Clint Eastwood's directing. These people do real research. In most boxing movies, the lack of research is the biggest problem I do believe. Stallone's movies were fun to watch, though yes now the fights look rather horrible. I must say that I do rather like Apollo Creed. He actually does a decent job, a damn good job considering the time and the fact that he had no real boxing experience at all.
I actually haven't seen Ali, though I heard it's fight sequences are the best.
I'm a critic of hollywood boxing movies because usually they get it wrong. Example, all of the Rocky movies. However, the movie 'Ali' definetely got it right. The fight sequences are so real that you can compare them to the real footage punch-for-punch. Ali is worth checking out just to see them.
Ali is too slow paced. Ali is one of those movies, for me at least, that once you see it once, it was pretty good but you really don't want to sit through the whole thing again. I think it is only 2 hours but feels like 3+ hours. That is how I felt at least. But yes, the fight sequences were actually quite impressive. The most realistic, but probably not the most exciting for casual people.
most boxing fights dont look that good.
i like the rocky series cos its an inspiration and the characters are entertaining.
ive heard of a rocky 6 but im not sure how it would work
I just saw 'Cinderella Man' over the weekend and I can't say enough good things about. It's an inspirational story set back in the days of the Great Depression with the story focusing on former heavyweight champ Jim Braddock. Unlike Million Dollar Baby but not as good as Ali, the fight scenes are very realistic, intense, and show the fighter's point of view when Braddock was facing opponents like Max Baer. Definetely worth going to see.
I thought they were good in Million Dollar Baby. At least the fighters were moving around unlike in most movies where they stand there like punching bags and block things with their face.

I like all the Rocky movies, even Rocky 5 which most say is horrible. I don't care, I feel like it has its place in the movies. It was the first big movie to address someone like a Don King figure. It was definitely the most different film of the Rocky movies. I think a Rocky 6 could work, but they don't need to have Rocky actually fight unless he gets his ass handed to him early. Even then, I don't know. I'd rather the series just remain as is.
Oh I liked the Don King movie about Don King. It was based on the book by Jack Newfield.

Raging Bull is the best boxing movie artistically and is an excellent film period. However I thought the boxing still looked pretty fake...I can't figure out if this was Scorcese being arty of if it was just bad choreography.
Million Dollar Baby had excellent looking fights except for the fact that women's boxing isn't nearly that exciting. But if you forget that for a moment it looked quite real.
As for the Rockys, for some reason I still prefer II to I. I really like the way they show Rocky's dreary post-fight career and the whole story with Apollo, where he knows that he's being sucked into a fight he doesn't want but pride won't let him stop himself from taking it. Great stuff.
