they've shown mismatches on PPV before. This is their justification for putting Brock on a future BAD telecast if he looks good vs. Craven.
Here's the card; often, they televise 4 fights. I can't imagine them going with Calderon and Chavez Jr over Brock. If they only show 3, maybe they will show Calderon over Brock, though. He's been on a few cards...
I was wrong. fightnews.com says Brock is off TV and Chavez Jr and Calderon are on.
I guess you pay for the main event, but 2 out of 4 interesting fights to me puts a damper on the card, when I know a fight I'd like to see happened but didn't get televised...

For the record, Craven never lost to Bowe. They were supposed to fight but it never happened. Basically this fight happened for several reasons. The most important thing is that Brock wants to stay active. He isn't a Don King fighter so it is a little more difficult to get a title shot since he has the potential to win a belt. Craven is no pushover and he doesn't command a large payday. It is a good tuneup to keep Brock active and get his name out on the undercard of one of the most anticipated ppv matchups of the year.
Byrd and Toney are definately not busy, especially Byrd.
Craven was also crushed by the current shell of a shell of Riddick Bowe.
There are plenty of fighters out there for Brock at the moment
Samil Sam
Ruiz
Maskaev
Peter
Beck
Williamson
Valuev
Wlad Klitschko
Byrd
Those are all available heavyweights, while it isnt necessarily a good thing to pit prospect against prospect they should be doing this.
Wlad/Brock would be interesting.
brock is 30 years old. hes 25-0 with 20 KOs. at the age of 30, now is NOT the time to be keeping busy. now is the time for him to make a name for himself, face a contender, face a champion, make a payday, dont go for a pushover.
What? He should be ranked alredy! All I did was have a conversation about boxing at work today and I get a call that I'm ranked 12th by the IBF and 9th by the WBA.
Larry Merchant will see to it that this fight doesn't make the televised undercard...
How will they spin all those KO losses for Craven? How could they not mention Butterbean? It's just too much potential for unintentional comedy for them to risk it.
It's his first national TV that a lot of people actually watch. ESPN2 is one thing. This is HBO; he looks good and he makes a name for himself.
Sam Peter's going the same route right now. There are so many so-so heavyweights and has-been heavyweights. Staying undefeated will set them apart until they become mandatories - which with 4 champs, won't be too long...

he just beat McCline now he is fighting a guy who needed a re-mtach to ebat butterbean, guy name is kenny craven, this sucks
He's thinking he wants to stay busy?
He just fought at the end of April and now he's fighting again in June.
Nothing wrong with staying busy.
At this rate he could fight twice more this year.
