Well Hopkins opposition sparkles compared to Taylors' ... including Taylors' challenge coming up. He's younger, but not better.
We'll see if Hopkins, experience and savvy can stave off Father Time one more time instead of providing all the Hopkins haters who've been incorrectly doomsaying him for the last 5 years with sudden credibility.
Someone's got to hate, why not them?
I pick hopkins by decision or late stoppage what are your thoughts? I totally agree. I think Hopkins has too much knowledge & knows too many "tricks" for the kid.
I have seen B-Hop, and I have seen Taylor, and I think the old Master will take the young hot shot to school, close the door, and administer a good, old fashioned ass-whuppin', like the teachers used to be allowed to do, way back in the day. QUOTE]
agree 100% here. B-Hop wins again!!! :boxing:
taylor by late KO
hopkins dont fight like no champ so he dont deserve to be and taylor is the best now
It's all about WINNING, not personal opinion. If Taylor beats the Champ, THEN, and only then, can he be called the best!
I really don't know. I thought Hatton didn't have a chance against Zoo, but then I hadn't seen either of them. I figured Tyson... well, you know.

Hell, that was SO far back in the day, you guys would call it the knight, or the Dark Ages...back with the dinosaurs.
B-Hop by SD, just cause some judge is gonna be lookin' sideways.
True. If Hopkins suddenly just eschews his gameplan or can't execute it I could see Taylor boring in on him but somehow I can't really fathom that.
Unfortunately that's what Roys', Tysons', Shanes' and many other guys' fans thought til their guy proved to be used up.
Admit it, he's got a helluva lot more tricks that Taylor hasn't seen ... that arent'dirty. He should be totally confused by the time Hopkins knocks him out.
I can see Hopkins breaking Taylor down and stopping him late. We havent seen what Taylor is truly made of but I believe he has tremendous skills and natural talent that could pull him through. Youth is on his side and against him because he is uneducated. Hey, I never said there was anything wrong with Hopkins tricks infact I am in awe of them. But we still havent seen how Hopkins could deal with a stiff and strong jab in his face either.
It is a toss up on who will really win. But none the less both fighters are tactical in there offense and it will be one boring ass fight.
I can see Taylor being the stronger man in this fight, but does he have the smarts of Bernard Hopkins?Either way, i have Bernard Hopkins in a split decision win.
He's the smartest fighter Hopkins has faced in a long time imo, which is why I think he has a shot.
This fight really could go either way. A win by Hopkins would be no surprise, but a win by Taylor would not necessarily be an upset.

Never against Taylor, Jermain has never been in a fight where the dirty tactics were pulled on him. I am sure Jermain will have trouble with Hopkins banging him low and on the hip throughout the fight as well.

Hopkins ... though it may be too much to hope for. His talent far outweights anything I've seen from Taylor but who knows when his bag of tricks is empty?

Damn, it's tough but I think I'm going to have to go against Hopkins and pick Taylor. The deciding factor is that Hopkins hasn't faced a guy who is as good at adjusting in mid-fight as I think Taylor can be. That might be Trinidad's biggest falw and Oscar went him against him with a specific game plan.
I say Taylor gets his shots in and then it's a matter of how Hopkins can take a punch. At his age I have my doubts about how well he will be able to absord punishment.

i was wrong in my picking of abby to pull the upset over cotto, but i still think taylor is gonna win and make the upset of the year...
I wouldnt say Taylor beating Hopkins is upset of the year, but more so if Gatti defeats Mayweather or how about Hatton upsetting Tszyu.
Everytime a fighter has put any kind of pressure on him all he does is back up straight where he can be hit with the righthand. Taylor has been open for the righthand even when he's not backing up. Taylor's righthand itself can be seen coming a mile away the way he cocks it back before throwing it. The quick sneak righthand lead by Hopkins will kill Taylor like it has every other opponent in my opinion.
Taylor is the quicker of the two and I believe this fight will come down to who is faster. Hopkins isnt really a heavy hitter and he will have to break down Taylor. I dont think power will be a factor but none the less who can get to who quicker. Each fighter has there noticeable flaws and I accept your point.
How do you know Taylor doesnt respond to pressure? He hasnt really been pressured his whole career.
Edouard
Marquez
Cuevaz
are the only guys to really put pressure on him and while Marquez showed Taylor was a bit green it is nothing to squak about. Taylor has never really faced a strong jab nor has Hopkins and both will be landing leather on each other and it will come down to who is quicker.
