How does this work? I made a thread after the Hatton fight saying how I lost alot of respect for Tszyu after seeing him quit. I also said how if it was Mayweather, Jones, or some others then people wouldve went crazy clowning them but people actually tried to take up for Tszyu and so did alot of media. Now Tyson quits and all the fans say he's a quitter and I read all the articles and the same media guys are calling him a quitter. I just dont get it. I dont care if Tszyu broke his jaw or what. He had just 1 round left and couldve easily finished. Why does he get a pass?
If anything Tyson should be given the benefit. He's the one who has been through alot, hasnt been a good fighter in years, is basically fighting just for money, and isnt in a big fight. Tszyu is a champ in a big fight and was losing but wasnt getting beat that bad and he quit because he couldnt take losing or didnt want to get stopped. That is disraceful.
Bottom line is if Tyson is a quitter then Tszyu damn sure is also
they both quit... zoo was fighting an undefeated young lion, tyson was fighting a bum.... and zoo stil made it further and took more punishment...
KT also dished out quite a bit of punishment. From what I hear, Tyson was getting outclassed. It's sad.
Tszyu not really a quitter
The reason why Tszyu is not being considered a quitter and Tyson is is simple: this is the first ever time Tszyu quit whereas Tyson quitting when he is in trouble has become a pattern throughout his career. Often when a fighter quits once he is judged for having no heart when that really isn't the case. Klitschko is a prime example, he was branded a quitter but he proved against Lewis that that isn't really the case. Same with Foreman, he quit once against Ali, or at least could've have gotten up and didn't, but in his soon after fight against Ron Lyle he showed great heart and also showed great heart every other time he encountered adversity since that point on. This is why even with someone like Freitas, I am going to wait to see what happens when he has a chance to redeem himself, before I lable him a quitter.
I am pretty sure that Tyson has never gotten up from a knockdown in his career, and has essentially quit four times by my count. Twice with Holyfield and now with Williams and McBride.
There is one other major difference in the Tszyu and Tyson cases. Tszyu did not have any chance of winning the fight when he quit. If he was to continue into the last round it would be purely for the point of going the distance and taking a beating. Tyson was ahead in the fight when he quit, and it was definately possible for him to win if he continued. Yeah he was tiring, but a 271 pound opponent is going to get pretty tired in the late rounds as well, especially since Tyson was landed some pretty good body shots.
tsyzu didnt quit his corner stopped the fight he wanted to continue thats why he fired his longtime trainer get your facts straight
thats their spin on it now. Tzyzu didn't seem to upset at the time, in fact if given the opportunity, I thought he might mount Hatton right there in the middle of the ring.

he didn't get a pass from me. If you quit, you are a quitter by definition.

Tzyu quit, straight out quit. He didnt protest the decision once it was made.
"Tszyu's a quiter!!!!!!
Anyone who tries to defend his action is an idiot!"

Justify your statement.
When YOU are out there and YOU are making those decisions, maybe then YOU will know the answer.
How many Atheletes in elite sports can not quiet get there?
Olympics is a good example.
If they could all go that extra bit every time they would all have Gold would they not?
Wake up.
It's pathetic how Tyson quit by making foul actions towards his opponent. Tszyu has lost against a up cumming fighter while Tyson lost against a Irish trash can. Tyson goodbye forever!
they both quit... zoo was fighting an undefeated young lion, tyson was fighting a bum.... and zoo stil made it further and took more punishment...
Exactly, karma for you coming right up.
Tyson quit cuz he didnt wanna fight no more so what, he said his heart aint in fighting no more, there are so many fighters in the history that quit on theyer stools, but people always bait on little shit to dog Tyson, No matter what happened 2night he is still on of the best ever.
And Tszu isnt?
i agree that tyson shouldnt have been fighting but to say tsyzu quit when it was his corner is stupid
Tyszu gave up, he could have gone out, theyre was no towel thrown it, it could have been his decision. He could have walked out, his corner may have influenced it but he quit plain and simple.
