Tarver would be a dumb choice for Hopkins, not to mention possibly a boring fight to watch since both men tend to be very careful and throw a conservative number of punches. Winky would be a better fight theat Hopkins would havea good chance of winning, although it would probably be a snooze as well. I like Hopkins's boring fights though....even though its nice to see a pressure fighter like Glencoffe Johnson I really admire the skills of Hopkins. Taylor is going to have a hard time beating him, although he does have a good chance.
hopkins doesnt want nothing with tarver. he is a 6'2 southpaw with great skills and power to match. plus if the fight were at 175 antonio could easily put on an extra 10-15 pounds before the fight and have a great weight advantage as well.
You are obviously a YOUNG man. Take it from an OLD man, "Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill." One of my all-time favorite bumper stickers.
exaaaaaaaaaaaactly
You have never seen him fight?...He has faster hands than Nard, better jab than Nard, seems to have more power than Nard, and is YOUNGER...

Yes, I saw him fight Bunema, Marquez, Joppy and Edouard...
Your prolly judging him on his fights with Bunema n Marquez who he destroyed showing his jab..
When he fough Joppy and Marquez, that jab was gone...He didn't look good with it like he did against blown up welterweights..
He got power, yes...
When I first saw him fight against Bunema and Marquez I said this guy is the real deal..
I saw him step up his competition a little bit and he didnt look great...especially against Edouard who seemed to hurt Taylor at times and the fight was even when Taylor stopped it...
If you think Taylor wins cuz of his power...
Then get ready to lose a few more million points..
Guys don't worry bout Tarver or Glen, Taylor is going to take care of Nard...Once Taylor beats the shit out of Nard, it will set up a fight between Wright-Taylor..
What has Taylor done to show he can beat Hopkins?
Wink is a nobody. Hopkins should go to lt heavy. If he wins, then Wink can man up and face him there.
This is Jones-Tarver all over again. Tarver should have came up to hw to face Jones, not the other way around.
Winky just dominated Mosley and Trinidad, he is a somebody.
Hopkins should end his career beating Taylor, then fighting Wright, then the winner of Johnson/Tarver. I just don't think that the winner of Johnson/Tarver is going to wait until January to fight Hopkins.
very good points.
I don't think Wright would be considered a "small" guy. Even though he just moved up, he is obviously a true Middleweight and should command respect as such. I agree with your points about his legacy,etc..I just don't like the styles matchup for him against Tarver.
I don't either, so maybe Johnson wins, if not, it's gonna be looong night for B-Hop. A TRUE measure of greatness if he can pull it off. If not, his legacy at middleweight is secure.
Winky's HOT right now, but the knock on B-Hop lately is that he's been beating up on smaller guys, so Winky does nothing for his legacy at this point. Remember, B-Hop is all about history and legacy now. So, defeating the young bull, Taylor, then moving up to lt-hvy and doing what his idol, the GREATEST P4P fighter ever, Sugar Ray Robinson, couldn't do, win the lt-hvy belt is HUGE to him. Then, how about a final match against RJJ. They don't write it any better in Hollywood!

your right on point.
Him vs Winky would be a good fight, two great boxers, I think Hopkins would show everyone how to beat a boxer like Winky Wright but Winky would give him a great fight. I would be routing for Winky but im not sure if he can beat him. Leave Tarver and Johnson open for it Roy stops all of his talk and returns.

I would pick Hopkins over Tarver...
I hope your right becuase I love Hop. I just think Tarver is a big Light Heavy with tremendous skill. He will present a problem for Hopkins. Hopkin's usual mo is to sit back and wear down his opponent and eventually overpowering them late. Can't see that happening with Tarver. Tarver has good stamina and a good chin. Hopkins would have to outbox him...can't see it.
The plan after Taylor is the move to 175 to fight the winner of Johnson/Tarver. I feel Tarver will beat Johnson and Hopkins will beat Taylor to set it up. Sure doesn't make sense to me why Hopkins would think he needs to move to 175. He was born 160 and has never had weight issues. Seems like a mistake to me. I think he would be better suited to fight Winky and then call it a day.
I know he said he wanted to fight Glen johnson, but if Tarver wins the rematch, will Bernard want to fight him?
I think Hopkins would rather fight Johnson because it an easier fight but I think he would fight Tarver too.
If B-Hop fights Tarver he will get KOed, Tarver is to big and B-Hop has never fought someone that big & skilled with power, This is a bad move for Hopkins IMO, I personally dont think he will beat Taylor so it dont really matter.
