Sergio Mora=Exciting Fighter

first, mark burnett said the contender WILL be back a 2nd season, just obviously not on NBC..... second, if you think the ratings were bad, imagine how'd they be if they focused on boxing, not the boxers and showed the entire fight, it wouldn't be the contender, it'd be just like any other boxing program.... the contender is the most watch show about boxing on TV, because it's different and focuses on the fighters(made for mainstream)... i can understand not liking the drama and the editing, but if they change that, the show will definately be gone.... You make a very valid point and I agree.

Great fight. I think the contender was good for boxing. I work for an Insurance company & the amount of people that were drawn to this show from my job surprised me. Hopefully this will give boxing the attention it deserves. Do any of you think the highlights will make sportscenter?

WHHHATTT??? Yea the fights were edited, that did suck but you think that's why it wasn't good for boxing??? Okay let me EDUCATE you because according to you I am not a true boxing fan! 1)Do you know what the demographic for boxing is??? -Answer:Males 18-23 from rural areas. Not all those high class big paying fucks who only like seeing Mega Fights. So I do hope that these young males were watching these fights because then it would be more exposure to the sport of BOXING not EDITING!!! 2)How can you not realize that it's good to see how a "poor boxer" as you put, makes it big. -That's REALITY. Boxing is not even made up of 25% of DLH's or Trinidad's, no it's made up of Juan's, Tyrone's, and Pedro's busting their asses off to make it to just one major fight in their lives!!! What we see on HBO and Showtime are the mainstream fighters who have made it, what we don't see enough of are the up and comers who are not blinded by the envy of money and fight their fuckin heart out minute after minute putting their heart and soul out as if it was their last fight!!! There are many out there waiting for that opportunity! Don't get it twisted I ain't saying that mainstream fighters don't show heart BUT I GURANTEE you if you watch those "unimportant fights" on Telemundo and Telefutura you see young, hungry, and heartful fighters who fight their fuckin heart out!!! The Apprentice had drama, back stabing, attuitude, fights, arguements, they have great personailties, you see American Idol right, Simons hated by the public cause hes rude and speaks his mind, but people tune in just to hear what he says, The Condenter had a bunch of plain suberban guys being humble to each other while training, each was like a soccor dad. I think the Contender was good They had Ishe the punk Jesse the stud Sergio/Alfonzo the humble mexicans Najai--you know the story bout him Basante-the backstabber and #1 daddy Brent Cooper-the fag who lost to Strickland LOL! etc.

Wrong, The Condenters problem was their boxers, no personailty, no talent, just a big snooze, how many of todays Champions wear a Cowboy hat? They need to mix it up and put flavor into it, too bland. Only one person wore a cowboy hat and he got KTFO

No you want shitty sportsmanship? Watch the Bonsante-Ishe fight where Bonsante shoves Ishe to the ground 3 times and picks him up over his head even! He made Ruiz look like a damn saint.

If you can get away with being cocky in the ring, you must be pretty good. If your cocky outside the ring, your just an ass and you look like a fool! I never saw Sergio act cocky outside the ring.

For all those hating on Sergio...Don't hate...there are so many other boxers out there who have showboated more. The kid has skills, determination, and HUEVOS!!! I agree that Contender is good for boxing but I also think it could be a little misleading about the fighters who participated. I mean that they were basically all on the same talent level (give or take) so the fights were all close, competitive and exciting. But I would also like to see them in the game against some other, more established middleweights, now that they have a little fame and thus leverage for making such fights.

On a side note: Everyone has to agree that the Contender was good for boxing, I mean at least it got well deserved publicity!!! Hopefully boxing will now be a more popular sport, and even have HIGHLIGHTS ON ESPN...okay maybe not but I can dream can't I?
