I just watched his 1st title fight against Qawi. This was only Holy's 12 professonal fight, but he whas great. The annoucers where trying to down play Holy the whole fight. After 15 tough rounds I only gave Qawi rd 5 and 15. and if you saw this fight it was toe to toe all night, no clinching. Holy seemed to get the better of the veteran champion all night. This was only the beginning, throughout his career he has always taken the toughest fights available. His resume is almost unmatched. My question to you is who has had a resume as good as or better than Holyfield. Does he deserve to be the highest paid fighter in boxing history which he already is?

Holy's record or boxing credentials, should neva be questioned. He has earned all boxing fans respect plus more... there will only eva be one "real deal".
Its 4 time but the belt he won fighting John Ruiz is usually dis - regarded.
Holyfield fought the highest level of competition in the 1990`s, compared to any fighter of that era. He also, up untill fighting Lennox lewis had one of the best records in any division ( Every fight Evander had in the 1990`s bar 5, were heavyweight title matches ).
The fighter of 1990`s for sure and maybe makes number 8 on my top ten heavies of all time. I am also counting that Evander was undisputed crusierweight champ, that must add to his credentials when ranking him!
Holyfield was the man, and is my favorite fighter of all time. He should have retired after losing to Lennox.
No agruement there. But whenever he fights i still can't seem to bet against him

Holyfield was one of the greatest, Period. He would give anyone on the top ten all time list a hard time. He may not beat everyone of them, but they better come in shape and prepared to fight of Holy will have their azz. He kinda reminds me of Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore etc., in that he may not have had the greatest size or punch, but he was always prepared and used his head. Lennox shouldn't be put above or even compared to Holy. Sure lennox was bigger, blah, blah, blah. Holy was better hands down.
When you think about, there isn't another fighter that would make better fantasy matchups. Holy vs. Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Liston, Ali, Frazier, Holmes etc would all be great fights. I'm not saying Holy would beat them all, but they would be great to see.
Boxing skills are not measured by just what you do in the ring, but what you do on the outside of the ring. If Holyfield jumped in the ring the day one of his family members died, do you think he would do well? I don't think so. If Holyfield got touched with healing to help him, let's not assume this hasn't helped him. His resume is not only boxing, but what he did with what boxing gave him.
I disagree, didn't McCall Ko LL a few days after his mother died? What you do outside of the ring does not relate to your skills. How you react to the situation is on you, you either have the skills or you don't

i like holyfield, however
the one thing i think is pretty lame,is the fact that he claims he went to a baptist healer, got touched by this healer and fell down unconscious, then started touching other people there and them falling down unconscious.
if you believe in that, and then also believe a goat talked, and also believe they fit 2-3million different species of animals on a boat,
........Then you're clearly a fucktard.
what does that have to do with his boxing skills, or resume?
not bad....although he was unlucky to be around whilst Lennox Lewis was......he dodged him for a long time and even corrupted a draw from the first fight......
definitely a great fighter, and probably in the top 10 heavyweights of all time.....Lennox Lewis was much greater though..
if you saw the 2nd fight Holy outboxed LL, and should have won that one.
Being in too many wars doesn't make you very smart, does it?
lol, no it doesnt. which is why i have so much respect for b-hop.
holyfield is smart to a degree, though.at least back when the legendarynights bowe-holyfield was filmed, which was probably later 1990's.i remember he said something like 'I chose to feel insecure about what I thought people would say' etc and that's why he trained so hard, sounded like he had his head on straight.tyson's 'spinal' thing was the worst though.

Someone finally said it
One of the greatest warrior's? That is a ridiculous understatement. He has the biggest heart of any fighter whoever lived at any weight class.

Holy is one of my favorite fighters of all time. Everything said about him in this thread is true. Especially the part about him fighting anyone. He is an all time great, and top 10 in my opinion.
And Im not talking about just heavyweights either.
When you go back, and cruise though his record....its crazy. Plain and Simple.
