lamon is no ike, he's more like tua... ruiz and byrd can score some KO's but they're not big punchers and dont hit hard enough to bring out the quiter in golota... styles make fights, LB will struggle to beat skilled, durable fighters... hell, even not so durable ones, like shufford and etienne
I would rate Lamon above Tua, just for the fact he is on the rise and doesnt have the whole weight issue either. He survived Wlad and that is enough to garner my respect considering Wlad was a top guy.
My theory is any man over 200 isnt going to hit like they have pillows for hands, Ruiz has shown he can hurt you and punch. He did knock down Evander Holyfield and packs a punch.
The same formula that Lamon showed tonight is the same exact way to beat Byrd. While this matchup will never happen, it is still good to think about. Have you ever seen the Ibeabuchi fight with Byrd? Ibeabuchi came out and swarmed Byrd the same way Lamon did against Golota and knocked him out in the 4th. I believe Lamon does pack a serious punch, he doesnt have 28kos for nothing. I think he wouldnt come out and slow start against Byrd and I think if he swarmed him like Ike did he would stand a viable chance at beating Byrd and possibly knocking him out. However Byrd has a heart of gold and a knockdown or two wouldnt mean anything, Byrd would keep getting up however the ref would probably stop the fight.
It would be interesting to see how well Lamon would do against Vitali, Rahman fights exactly like Lamon and I believe Lamon would have the stronger chin. So if Rahman and Vitali get it on we could get a great emphasis on how that fight would play out. Vitali would try and bully Lamon for sure but Lamon would be there waiting for him. With Vitalis awkward movement a swarm technique wouldnt be a bad idea either, especially if you caught him when he was backing up.

It does take an expert to figure out that a shot fighter can be knocked out ESPECIALLY in the HWY division.... When's the last time Golota clearly won a fight? 95'?
No, it was 2004 against Ruiz. Well, it should have been anyway.
i agree with most of your post, KO's are exciting and good to watch, better than a byrd fight...
but lets be serious byrd and ruiz dont hit hard and could never KO someone like that... byrd is a 1000 time more skilled than brewster... my point is brewster beat a good guy he matched up well against, doesn't prove to me he can beat toney, byrd, or VK...

Lamon did what 2 other top and highly regard champions couldnt do without the disputed outcome. Lamon proved his name should be thrown into the hat of names for the current heavyweight champions.
Excitement is what makes the heavyweight division live, Lamon showed more excitement in 53 seconds then majority of the current heavyweight champions (aside from Vitali) has done their whole career. That is what draws people to the heavyweight division.
Ruiz isnt the softest hitter either so I think that says a lot for Lamon.

u think he beat them, they were close fights and officially he lost....
but to answer your question, styles make fights, ruiz and byrd dont have the power to make golota quit... plus ruiz sucks and byrd struggles to beat everyone, fres, mccline, golota, etc..
you're going to need some skills to beat VK... brewster is just another tua - left hook and chin, thats it... i'm laughing at you guys who think brewster is a threat because he beat a career choke artist...

Golota beat Ruiz and Byrd....
How is he a bum?

I told Yall Brewster is the truth. Everyone said i was crazy. He hits too hard. Don't start hating on him or Golota, because everyone knows Golota is good. Brewster is just better. Who can beat him? be honest with yourself.
Vitali would beat him. James Toney could beat him. Calvin Brock might be able to. I even think Hasim Rahman would beat Lamon.
Of course, Ruiz can beat anybody at any given night too.
u r right, their was a few experts like us that knew the outcome before it happen. Some people would rather hate on a fighter than apprieciate him for their skill. in lamon's case power and chin and heart

I thought Golata would win but my thoughts started to change when I saw Lamon Brewster come to the ring and he looked determined. Plus he came out to Terrordome by Public Enemy, which was Mike Tyson old anthem.
Peter says: "You know...its a lack of motivation"
Brewster losing fights to Shufford and Etienne were easily understandable. He was not on the big stage, and generally was being Rodney Dangerfielded. So he thinks, what the hell...who am I trying to impress? What exactly could I gain from NOT simply going about the motions and fighting like a sparring session. The new Brewster is a violent F-16 who these B-52's need to worry about.
He is only 6' tall if generous. They list him at 6'1...but I dont buy that. He is a little guy to a certain extent who is just flat out mean. His tenacity and hatred toward his lack of respect has bred a really mean fighter who will continue to fight wrecklessly just like he did against Golota. Now that he has everything to lose in the ring, and much, much more to gain.
And lets be honest. He has the tools to take over. Chin, Heart, Power, and not giving a damn.
I couldn't have said it better
the true test for a fighter as this is to fight someone with agile feet, speed, a good jab that keeps the power bomber at bay, frustrated.
so he should fight Wlad again.
LOL
you know Brewster just got lucky when he fought Wlad. If Wlad had just used his PhD to figure that he should should punch his opponenet ONE MORE TIME while they're on the way down to ENSURE THEY DONT GET UP, he had plenty of time to do it and seal the fight, but he let him back up and lost, sad. I'll bet u were sweating it though! LOL
Brewster had some personal shit going on in the fight with wlad, i didn't think he could beat wlad until he said He is going to have to kill me to win, as you look in his eyes when he said that i could see he truly ment it, there was no way anybody was going to beat Brewster on that Night. And yes i was sweating when i saw that beating he was taking in there.
Yes, you did. I take it back. That leaves me who was semi-wrong LOL
never a problem. And either way you picked the correct winner.
