Hi Everyone,
I work in a social services agency where I've met a young woman who grew up on a very violent Native American reservation. She was beatern terribly from the time she was a toddler. The only way I've seen her express her emotions is with belting the heck out of people, and she really does a lot of damage.
This might sound like a weird question, and I apologize for my ignorance, but can boxing be used as an outlet for anger and perhaps behavior modification?
Thanks for all comments.
Deb
I don't know if it would help manage her anger any, but her anger could make her a good fighter. Look back at Mike Tysons childhood, sounds about the same.
i wouldnt let her spar if it to release anger as she wouldnt block so when she gets tagged it would probably frustrate her and make things work. stick with a heavy bag
Thank you - I'm going to look for a local ring or gym. God - I just found out this woman's sister is getting out of state pen after a 10 year sentence. Perhaps I should be taking lessons :)
i think training sessions help. but you can't make anger do the work during actual competition as it can lead to wrong decision makings and other mistakes
If I knew even the slightest thing about boxing (like how to avoid getting knocked out by the punching bag), I'd consider it. She probably needs more anger release than anger management.
A heavybag and a pair of gloves would do the job, when I get angry I just go to my basement to beat the crap out of the bag. It feels good. :D
Who cares about anger management, put some gloves on her and be her manager. Maybe you can make a few bucks promoting!

Unfortunately, she's just shy of being homeless. Shrinks don't treat the very poor. They are put in jail where they learn new stuff. But you did answer my question and I thank you.
