Ronald "Winky" Wright vs. Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins

winky is too small for hopkins, hopkins was too big for trinidad, trinidad was bigger than winky, winky is good but hopkins is nothing like trinidad, he can fight if he wants but will probably lose.

good matchup. Lets not forget something though. Hopkins is a very good boxer, as well as brawler. His ability to adapt in the ring and change styles might frustrate Wright. IMO...Winky would not be able to intimidate him with the jab like he did against Trinidad. If Nard feels he is being pressured with the jab....he can mix it up on the inside very well. He wont sit...and wait to be potshotted like Trinidad did. He can come underneath the jab..like he does so many times, with very good uppercutts and looptyloop right hands that Bouie Fischer talks about. Winky has a very good chin...and I dont think Nard would knock him out. I do think however, he would be made to respect his physical size in the ring....as well as his old school tactics. There is no way in hell I would bet against Hopkins in this fight, because that would not be the smart bet in my opinion. Perhaps some Boo's in the crowd??? Nard: "The boos don't bother me. if hopkins fight winky at this time, hopkins will have a better advantage. time is not on hopkins' side... but he has the skills to match winky's. and he has power stronger than winky

Fuck chess, that's for pussies. Most of these boxers arent the smartest of folks, otherwise they wouldnt have the make a living beating the crap out of each other. I want to watch a real fight, and please dont compare chess to Corrales-Castillo. That was a real boxing match right there. Read the post right before you smack talk it. I never said Corrales-Castillo was a chess match. I said that during the last two weeks we got the "best of both worlds", Wright-Tito was the chess match and Corrales-Castillo was a war. Both where of the highest quality, imo anyway.

I think Winky will win, Winky could be the best fighter in the world right now and his skill is very elite. Hopkins may be boring but he still has talent but hes not unstoppable. Roy jones proved that many years ago. If Winky trained hard enough and just fought with confidence i bevielve he would handle Hopkins. Hopkins was a totally different fighter back when he fought Jones, he was a pressure fighter with a high knockout perecentage. He fights nothing now like he did back then.

First Hopkins will have to get by a tough young fighter in Taylor. I think Taylor has the tools to beat Nard, especially if he uses his jab.

I don't like to say this but I have no clue who would win this fight. But if I had to put money on it I would go with Hopkins.

I first voted too hard to call, but after thinking about it for a couple of minutes, I realized that Hopkins would make the smaller guy out of him. In my opinion, Hopkins is one of the best fighters at using his advantages, and I think that will be the key to beating Winky. Hmm...On second thought it could be a really competitive fight. I'd like to see both fighters do well, but I'd be pulling for Hopkins.

Hopkins is too smart, he'd find Wright's achilles heel then score his way to a decision imo.

I like Wright in a technical boxing match against Hopkins. Sissy jabbing ass? Someone said that, the jab is a weapon and a very effective one when used by a master boxer. :boxing:

I agree with that, its a chess match, full of boxing class and fought with the brain and not only with there fists and agression. If all you want are slugfests with guys knocking shit out of each other watch UFC. How can you even whine after the last couple of weeks, Corrales vs Castillo then Wright vs Tito, got the best of both worlds.

This is a fight for real boxing fans... The general public better bring some blankets and pillows if they go to the fight...

hmm Roy and Winky are different fighters. However, Nard was very good when he lost to Roy in 1993. Roy was the challenger and Hopkins showed he was good but Roy was just too fast plus he had enough power to string Hops a bit. Both improved after that but now both are declining. Nard is not as physically strong as he was in the early mid and late 90's. All in all though, like I said in my previous post, although Roy's win over Bernard shows Nard is not unstoppable, it doesn't really show how Winky can beat Bernard because if Winky does fight Bernard he will use a totally different style. Also, no fighter in unstoppable anyway. All fighters can be stopped (Roy, Tito, Ali, Judah, Tszyu, Barerra, Castillo, etc).

Thats all that is a stupid thing to look at for deciding who you think will win this fight if it ever does happen. that was a long time ago and nard was a different fighter. way too early in his career. hops can be beaten don't get me wrong. but that fight with jones should not even bementioned when talking about the nard of today.

if these two were to fight it would be the biggest snoozefest ever. nards last fight would prolly be second only to this fight. i would definately watch it on the replay. nard is boring enough and would be walking into a jab all night like tito. this fight has the makings for the record least punchs thrown.

hmm Roy jones proved that many years ago. Yeah but Roy was super physically gifted and just an athletic freak. I don't think Winky can do much that Roy did. He just has to be smart and fight his fight at all times and hope Hopkins cannot outdo him at his own game.
