hell no. Toney is the true champ Roids or not.
Let me guess... You're a kid, about 15-16yrs old and American?
Drugs have no place in sport, ESPECIALLY boxing.
When you get a bit older, and start competing in a sport you'll understand this.
I'm not sure what your objective was, but I don't see how you can glorify yourself as trying to get through to a kid about drugs and sports.
You were looking down on the kid for being young, and naive. And if that wasn't enough, about being American. As I said, being American has nothing to do with it unless you feel you are better than Americans.
Well, stop flattering yourself.
i dont think any1 is discounting his longevity and past greatness but in this particular instance if found guilty of the charges, he should most definitely return the title irregardless of how ahead he was in the fight or how good of a fighter he is. It's ethics

Listen he may have screwed up but James Toney is still an all time great and for any to deny that is insane. Just look at his record.
Has anyone given a thought to the fact that the roids might be doctor prescribed to help heal his torn biscep? If so, they wouldn't be illegal.
Also, whatever steroids are used to restore muscle tissue are not the same found in his system (anabolic performance enhancer)
So there goes your theory
Has anyone given a thought to the fact that the roids might be doctor prescribed to help heal his torn biscep? If so, they wouldn't be illegal.
If that's the case, he shouldn't be allowed to fight as long as he takes them

bull shit...its all excuses plus if the steroids were still in his blood come fight time, even if they were to heal his arms, would still boost his performance
I doubt they will cancel the fight even if Toney does get stripped by the WBA. They just wont have the fight in New York. It sucks if this ruling goes threw that Toney cant fight in bouts sanctioned by the WBA because now he can never be undisputed champ if that happens.
Tyson - Golota fight was canceled due to Tyson smoking a joint after the fight.
If proven that Toney used steroid FOR the fight you don't think it should be declared a No Contest? Are you kidding me??
True, the roids would hve made up for the condition on the night. People forget sometimes that Steroids don`t always make you fit and buff! They increase your strengh also and could have enabled Toney to win the fight, but we`ll never know. However i stress again, if Toney failed the test, strip him of the title and return it to Ruiz!
Agreed. They have to strip him if this is true. There's no place in any sport for performance-enhancers. It creates an uneven playing field and sets a terrible example for impressionable young people.
It can be speculated that Toney could have beaten Ruiz without steroids. But if this is true, it doesn't even matter. He took them nonetheless and any coulda, woulda, shoulda means jack shit. I persoannly didn't think he took them considering how out of shape Toney was. But thinking about it in hindsight, it was amazing how a such a fat fighter could just get stronger as the fight went on. Him being out of shape is probably the exact reason why he took steroids, if it's true of course.

well yeah...
to inject yourslef with performance enhancing drugs is cheating.
imo ruiz wasnt that bad in his fight with toney, he still grabbed a lot but atleast he attempted to do that on an even playing field
99% of anabolics are ingested, not injected, and this is probably the same scenario that Vargas went thru with a bogus nutritionist giving the fighter "supplements"....not to blame the nutritionist completely, but fighters are ususally too dumb or stubborn to ask any questions, and disciplined fighters, for better or worse, do WHAT THEY'RE TOLD in training and will pop whatever pill is put in front of them
If Toney did use nandrolone steroids he should be banned from boxing for two years on the first offence and permanently on the second.
Having said that, studies suggest a combination of dietary supplements (not containing a banned substance) and exercise, can result in a positive nandrolone test. Therefore he should be tested again and considered innocent until proven guilty.
In response to some other comments, To dismiss someone’s opinion because you believe them to be "young" or especially "American" is discriminative and racist, obviously from a self centered conceded no-it-all commonly found in the stuck up - aristocratic parts Europe. Having said that, I try not to stereotype Europeans like you just did young Americans. When you get a bit older you'll understand this.
Being young or someone’s nationality has absolutely nothing to do with the topic and your opinion is not more valuable than any young Americans!
As much as i hate Ruiz i have to state that IF Toney used steroids for his fight with Ruiz as much as i hate to say it Ruiz is still the WBA champion. Hopefully some dec will be made soon but if Toney is guilty Ruiz should be awarded his title back!
So Ruiz gets to hold, grab, clench, wrestle, grope, pull, tug, throw elbows, complain to the ref, have a cornerman who threatens the opposing cornerman, and who threatens to sue referees....
but TONEY's the cheater?!?!?!
allllllllllllllllrighty then

that's very true, can you imagine how hard some of these sports stars work, only to see some cheat take away their title, or whatever it may be? it shouldn't matter wheather or not people like ruiz, you have to win CLEAN, or else your just plain and simple a cheat, theres no justifacation for it, it's also not a good example to set to his young fans.
