Well i just saw the video of the post fight press conference between Castillo vs Corrales where Corrales had to be helped off the podium.
He was asked if he would give Castillo a rematch and he said he didnt know that Gary and i forgot who else made those decisions. Well standing behind him i imagine was Gary and as soon as the question was asked he shook his head as to say no rematch.
After looking at countless replays of that final round. I keep asking myself why didn't Castillo cover up after Corrales hurt him, or why didn't he tie Corrales up?
Corrales is about as hard a puncher as you will ever see in the lower weights, & he couldn't take Castillo off his feet. He could hurt him, but not drop him. Castillo has a head of pure iron.
i agree he has an iron chin, but i basically consider the fight as if corrales knocked him out...looking at the replay over and over, im convinced IF the referee had let it gone on, castillo would have soon slid down to the canvas, and not gotten up in time.
Morales is also tough as nails, and as I recall, he was significantly bigger than Barerra in their last fight.
I think the person that beats Corrales, picks him apart from the outside like Freitas did for about 6 rounds.
There are other fighters in the 135 division that could challenge Coralles, namely Juan Diaz.
Also, just like Jeff Lacy,, Coralles will be exciting even if he is fighting a mis-mandatory.
I think people are selling Morales short here.I think it would be a tough fight for Morales, but he can box and counterpunch Corrales into a decision.I would love to see this fight still cause its intriguing but i wanna see a rematch first with Castillo :boxing:
yup
i wouldnt want a morales-corrales showdown
erik likes to give guys their fights
not the whole fight
but he likes to give them spots
to sort of say
look i gave u the fight u needed and u couldnt do it
like with manny in the 12th
and barrera most the fight
he wanted to try to beat barrera on the inside
and i think chicos size could give him way more trouble then barrera on the inside
even tho fighten on the inside isnt chicos normal fight
so in his normal style on the outside
his lenght and power
would prolly be too much for morales to over come
but id still pick morales in a decsion
lol
How long have you & Brooklyn Bomber been following boxing ?
You guys are viewing this fight, & the post-fight, like a bunch of rookies.
Corrales won the fight, but took a beating in the process.
What does that mean ? It means he's SATISFIED, but hurting.....right now.
Castillo, on the other hand, LOST.....& wants to get it back ASAP.
Give it some time.....Corrales will do it again.
You guys acting like Corrales is scared, while Castillo is hungry to kill him, is a childish way to view it all.
I cant speak for the Bomber, but labeling either of us, or our point of view as childish just cause it differs from yours isnt right. I dont consider your view childish because you disagree with me. You and I see it differently, thats all. Does that make your view childish? No, not in my book.
Okay, that being said, I just feel that Chico should consider giving Castillo a rematch a high priority. Considering the controversial ending of the fight, and the fact that he had Chico down two separate times..and both times the count of 10 was not enough time for him to recover, that he owes him a rematch, if nothing else. How that can be considered childish is beyond me. And considering how dangerously close Chico came to losing that fight (different ref., possible different outcome) I can understand his reluctance to fight Jose again..who wouldnt understand that? It's frustrating as hell when people call me a hater, and/or question my maturity or the length of time I've been a fan just cause I have a different point of view.
although I have NO respect for any man that hits a woman, I dont hate Diego. My mild dislike for him is more about the type of man he is..not boxer. The same can be said about Tyson. I dont much like him either, but I dont necessairly hate him. Hate is a very strong word that people are too quick to 'label' others with just cause it's so easy to use. No, you personally didnt accuse me of hating, but others have on this very topic..and all that kind of crap together takes the fun out of debating the subject.
Corrales would just knock Morlaes out cold.....while Castillo would brutally batter him before putting him away.
Corrales is about as hard a puncher as you will ever see in the lower weights, & he couldn't take Castillo off his feet. He could hurt him, but not drop him. Castillo has a head of pure iron.
Morales' punches would have zero effect on Castillo, & he could not hold JLC off with his boxing skills.
It would be a mismatch.
These guys dont need a rematch, i think they took alot from each other in the fight. i think erik is a little too small to fight diego, but i still think it would be a hell of a fight :boxing:
Corrales would annihilate Morales.
Morales wouldn't make Chico blink at 135....& Corrales' bombs would launch that natural 126lber into the cheap seats.
Castillo is LEAGUES tougher than Morales.....& he & Corrales went head to head like few others before them.
If the Mexican fight fans are looking for Morales to avenge Castillo.....they will be in for a terribly rude awakening.
Absofuckinglutely...Morales would stand no chance against either guy...there is no way he could hurt either of them!
Can you imagine what Erik's face would look like?

I totally agree, i don't think Corrales is leagues tougher then Morales though, I just think Corrales is just naturally much bigger than Morales. I doubt Morales could hurt Corrales but Morales could be seriously hurt imo.
hmm
Jabs is right. Castillo is a beast who comes into fights weighing 155 lbs. Morales comes in weighing 140. Morales is not a great puncher at 130. At 135 Diego would probably stop him. Corrales has significantly more power than Pac-man.

This is disappointing, but not in the least suprising. Right after the fight when that question was asked I thought "Hell no Chico wont give him a rematch..maybe if Tony Weeks is guaranteed to officiate..but otherwise, no way!".
How very sad..if he's half as convinced that he really won that then after he recovers he should be determined to rematch.

Like I said before Coralles will lose all the respect he got from me in this fight.
They are making it clear that Chico wont be able to pull off a miracle like that again and that Corrales is by far the worst beat fighter.
$$$ talks, neither guy can make big $$$ against another opponenet this year (unless Chico moves up to fight Tszyu, unlikely though), and I'm sure that Showtime would kick down the dough to see them fight again in October/November
