who do u guys think would win this match-up...roy has super fast at this point but was unpolished..i can see him outboxing trinidad for a few rounds then getting caught with a punch and dropped...remeber he was 19 then

140, even if Winky is moving up in weight, hes still naturaly bigger.
True, the lowest Wright has ever weighed according to boxrec is 147 and was only once, all other fights he has been above 150. The Middleweight increase for Wright will not be a factor!
It's impossible for a 28 year old 154 Trinidad to fight a 19 year old Jones too.
Well, I was replying to the original post. You went another way anyway.
Yop. You can't really compare an amateur vs a professional. It would have probably taken one clean punch from Tito to knock the 19 year old out.
Exactly, why not say a 19 year old Jones vs. a 19 year old Tito.
C'mon fellas, I like Roy(he's far from perfect though) as a fighter but no fuckin way, the Roy of 88 would last the distance with a contemporary Trinidad unless he fought just like DLH did in the second half of his fight with Tito.
He RAN ... and so would an inexperienced, untested, defensive young boy who never learned to like getting the shit knocked out of him!
Naaaw, Roy had the physical tools but he wasn't fighter enough then to handle a punching seek and destroy fighter like Trinidad.
IMHO!

roy jones by UD......how bout prime toney vs prime trinidad?????? trinidad is my fav. fighter but he gets destroyed by toney
Oh at middleweight LOL :D , I thought you meant at heavyweight at first. I think I would go with Toney.
a 1988 Roy Jones was extremely fast and talented but unpolished. I would see him give Tito a lot of trouble. I am not sure if a 1988 Roy would beat a prime Tito, but it might be a close fight. This thread just tells us how an amateur Roy Jones was that great.
Pretty much any Roy beats any Tito. Just way too many dimensions for Trinidad.
This wouldn't be a thing like Tito vs. Reid. Only reason you're making that comparison is b/c Reid was a decorated amateur. Their styles are vastly different. Roy wouldn't be getting hit against Tito, therefore he'd stop Trinidad. He's not only just naturally too big for Tito, but Roy is too fast, too powerful, too elusive, everything, for Trinidad. That's just the way it is.
Zab Judah is my 2nd fav. fighter, but I admit Jones would destroy him no matter what.
too big?..i said roy in 1988 when he was 19...he was small then
This would have been Trinidad vs. Reid all over. Roy was just a boy, very talented but not well developed. A killer pro against a skilled but amateurish boxer.
