The only way Ruiz v Toney will be a good fight is..

Joe, I'm not going to watch. My point was how crappy the division and the fighters are. How can someone like Ruiz hang around this long. Why is the division so thin that a blown up middleweight is even getting a shot at the title, let alone have it be something "special". There are better fighters out there than Ruiz and Toney but none of them can keep it together long enough to weed this crap out of the division. In case you hadn't noticed, boxing is not nearly as popular as it once was. Ruiz-Toney is not going to reverse that trend.

good call HayeFan (did I just compliment you? damn I must be losin it...), I'm pullin for Toney for the exact same reason, Klitschko vs. Toney is the most entertaining fight that could be made in today's dismal heavyweight landscape, the David v Goliath angle would get the general sports public's attention, something that Ruiz v Toney can't do It's common sense. Right now, outside of an unlikely to impossible Klitschko vs Klitschko fight, Toney represents the only sparkle at heavy. That is, until David Haye eventually moves up to heavyweight and clusterfucks every man, woman and child :D .

Before anyone brings up the lite turnout to Ali-Liston II, there were other issues involved causing that. Heck, the local high school football championship draws more than 6,000. :eek: The only upside is that one of these turkeys is going to lose. Oh no! There could be a draw! Then a rematch. OH the agony! So what's your point? You'd have rather had King just throw up his hands in dismay & do nothing after the cancellation of Klitschko - Rachman like most other promoters would have? Say what you will about the current state of the devision, at least King is keeping his heavyweights busy. You can't weed out the crap from the crop without having them fight. Which is preferable to the stagnant state that things were in back in the 80's when most of those rated seemed happy to just remain stagnent & sit on their rankings. Hell, if you don't like certain match ups like tonight's, don't watch... It's as simple as that!

The law of averages doesn't seem to apply to Ruiz. No doubt, it'll be another dull and frustrating affair. I'd like Toney to win purely to keep alive the possibilty of a Klitschko showdown cum David vs Goliath laugh-a-thon. It aint gonna happen though, every time I bet against Ruiz the bastard bucks the odds. You're forgetting one thing! As a promoter, You have to pay top $$$ for MSG... and $0 for a Casino... This is why casinos keep a VIP section to bring in their high rollers.. Casinos LOVE the idea of 5000 people coming in for the fight.. brings a lot of gambling in town! not exactly my friend....DK doesn't have to 'pay' to host a fight at MSG, he still gets a site fee from MSG's event organizers, it's just a whole lot less than a casino would pay....plus MSG always makes $$$ for DK events, even when the house is 1/2 full, because they get $500+ for the ringside seats which always sell-out
