Classic Holyfield on ESPN Classic

I just put the guy on ignore as well. I hate to do that, but when someone just spews garbage, making little or no sense, and prefers personal attacks over rational and amiable discourse, I don't see any point in reading their shit at all. That makes my ignore list double in size. Good idea, and I hate to do it too...but it gets silly after a while!

I saw on a cable show that used to be broadcast on MSG I believe, "In this Corner", where Evander pointed to that fight against the former Dwight Braxton as his toughest in his career. Qawi had moved up despite fighting at 175 for most of his career where he made his name beating Matthew Saad Muhammad and fighting Michael Spinks for the title in the day and secured the cruiserweight championship. Quite a feat considering he was like 5'6 or so. He looked bulky at 175 and sorta looked like a hedgehog in there with a young slim Evander. Evander pointed out that Dwight landed some haymakers on him but that his biggest problem in theis fight was that it was a 15 rounder which was regulated out of existence shortly thereafter. He said that was a real bitch and that he considered this fight tougher than any other he's had, even the Bowe and Lewis fights. I dont doubt that at all...there were a few times when I thought both of them were sure to go down from some serious hard punches. Both must have excellent chins! The commentators made a bit of a 'deal' out of that being Holyfields first 15 rd'er too..they didnt seem to think he'd make it the full fight. He really surprised them by not only lasting the full fight, but by winning it as well. That was just one of the many, many times he surprised everyone by winning fights that he just wasnt expected to win. Great fight, and I'm really looking forward to the replay tonight against Moorer!

Did anybody else happen to catch the Holyfield-Qawi replay on ESPN Classic last night? Turned out to be a great fight...I realize it was only Evanders 12th pro fight, but the commentators seemed extremely biased towards Qawi the entire fight. They really started to get on my nerves with it too. To listen to them for atleast the first 8 rd's you'd think that Qawi was spanking Evander (I think not!) and that Evander had bitten off too much, too soon :confused: All the while, it was Qawi that kept coming in with his head for the ENTIRE fight (no headbutts was a pure miracle!) and repeatedly hit below the belt, while the ref. looked stupidly on and never did a thing about it. Other than all that, it was bittersweet watching the man back in his day :( (why did I start an entire thread about this?? They only way you can respond to solid points I make is to call me mentally ill, and make character attacks against me, thats pretty weak, and an example of unfairly labeling and attackig somebody simply because they dont collaborate with your agenda, disingenuity, and lies. They were totally biased toward Holyfield you liar and you know it. Quawi was the agressor the whole fight and landed more cleaner harder punches. Are you HOlyfield's promoter or something? Quawi deserved the descision in that fight pretty clearly. And of course, there's always this..are you really that screwed up in the head?? :eek: who labeled me?
