Am I the only one who can't get used to the vision of two girls facing each other without chocolate and g-strings?
Well, this might've sound a lil harsh but I really wonder if women belong in a boxing ring besides being round girls.
I know that this is some kind of offending topic and that my opinion might not be politcal correct but every time I see a girl with boxing gloves I have a strange feeling. I don't mind girls playing basketball or volleyball. It's just that I can't stand to watch a female being punched in the face. Even if it is another female who is punching her.
I don't know wether this is part of my education or just a personal opinion I got over the years, it just makes me feel sorry and angry as soon as I see a lady being hurt. Now I know that it is not upon me to protect any girl that likes to box as it is her own decision. The strange feeling remains though.
How do you guys feel about that?
Well, I have to admit that I've only seen a very short clip of Wolfe but I watched some rounds of Regina Halmich when she was fighting on an undercard in televised bouts. And again, even if they are skilled, talented, honest and have passion for what they do. I still hate to watch them beating each other.
Btw. the very same Regina Halmich couldn't knock out a totally untrained German showmaster in a horrible freak event.
The thing is, as a rule, women simply can't fight. It's not instinctive to them. But even if there are a few women who do, through some genetic irregularity, have the instinct, talent and ability to fight and fight well, who are they going to fight? The competition is so limited as to be nearly non-existant, and at least every other women's boxing match is so lop-sided as to reflect that very point.
Like I said, it's a free society, and in my opinion they have the right to box if they want, but by the same token, I have the right to turn the channel. The Science channel is almost always playing something cool and interesting, so if they're showing women's boxing on Friday Night's ESPN2, I switch it and learn something instead.
Curly you're wasting your time. These were the kind of guys who thought they could take Anne Wolfe, having never seen her fight. Their only reasoning was that she happened to be a female.

This has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read, and I've posted at sherdog. I guess you think other women's athletics are just a "Novelty, fad, whatever" I guarantee I can find hundreds of women fighters that could make you cry like a little girl. I've seen women's MMA matches and they go at it just as hard as the men.
You're probably one of those guys who say shit like "boxing is a science" and "I love the sport" so why should it matter the gender of the fighters if they're competing in the exact same sport with the same passion for the game?
Just one thing:
Boxing is a science (in fact, I think it could also be classified as a form of art), but that doesn't mean women are equipped to participate. Women, in general, don't have the physique, instinct, or talent for combat sports. It's extremely obvious when watching a women's fight. Just because they can be trained to attack and defend adequately doesn't mean they're ready to box. You can teach a monkey to pound out a melody on a keyboard, but that won't ever make it sound good.

As for Buttafuco vs. Chyna, Chyna weighed about 170 for the match to his 240 lbs. Did you even see the fight? Chyna did not look huge at all. It was a total mismatch of size.

Nobodie's trying to take away their right to box. It's just about me not feeling comfortable seeing two girls beating each other.
And generally gender is something that matters in sport. I love wachting NBA though I don't care about the WNBA. But I'm sure that the WNBA ladies have as much if not more passion for the game. The major difference being the quality. Women can't compete with man in atheletics. There's a reason for having different leagues and different rules. It's not like a well trained, talented woman could run 100m under 10 secs or jump over 8m.
I can't see why women bother boxing. Nobody is going to watch to any extent at all. Why would they? They average guy can beat the crap out of just about all of them.

Is Boxing a sport for Females?
Women boxing is just plain stupid. It's too violent a sport for women to be involved in and I don't want to see women's faces busted open or them laying on the ground knocked out.
You people are male chauvinists...I'm disgusted I post among the likes of you.
:joke:
Look on the bright side...in women's boxing there is no such thing as this.. :nutkick:
but if you ever seen Vonda Ward vs. Ann Wolfe, you'll notice that there is alot of this

I'm not dropping $50 to watch someone I can beat up. Don't believe me? Chyna fought Joey Buttafuco in one of those celebrity boxing matches awhile ago. Neither was obviously a boxer, but there was a 50yr old out of shape pug beating the snot out of a huge, in shape athletic woman. He beat her from pillar to post. Novelty, fad, whatever just don't call it a sport.
I can't see why anyone would want those girls to beat the shit out of each other. Let them do some figure skating or porn instead. Who gets turned on by a girl with gloves and a mouthpiece that has a bloody nose?
Well, I could do without the porn (nothing makes me sicker than to see a pretty woman whoring herself out like that), but the figure skating would be cool ;)
Yes, I agree women have the right to box, but I also have the right not to watch it. I've seen only a few women who box that actually have some talent, ability, and decent training...and no, Ali isn't one of them.

Can't get Showtime over here so that kinda answers the question I think. ;)
But let me guess, they got some perfect10 looking girls, gave them some gloves and wet t-shirts before they hugged each other inside of a ring?
I think women's boxing should be a separate sport. I can see myself watching a women's boxing telecast, but only if I was in the right mood and it was two "marquee" names, however "marquee" their name can get in a division with few stars.
would I watch Ann Wolfe vs. Laila Ali? Yes
would I pay to see it? No
And what would you do if the "marquee" name "fighters" were beautiful looking girls? Not trying to take anything away of Ann or Laila of course. ;)
But as soon as they put their mouthpiece in and the bell rang I'm sure that I'd want to climb into the ring, break them up and try to find another solution.

Women have the right to box just like men do.
But those of us who don't wish to pay to see women's boxing or would rather not watch it on TV shouldn't have to. They don't show WNBA games on doubleheaders with the NBA. I don't want to see Laila Ali on a PPV I dropped 50 bucks on...
Yes, of course they have the right to box. I didn't want to take that away from them. Hopefully I didn't gave you that impression. I was just trying to voice my very personal opinion on that topic and ask the rest of you guys if you agree or disagree.
