I think Morales is the better Boxer. First off he beat both fighters that have KO victory's over Barrera. 2nd he has been champion in 3 different weight classes. 3rd all the fights with Barrera have been so close. If it was not for his hatred for Barrera dictating his style and he actually boxed him properly instead of looking for a KO he would have won. You literally only have to change the scores on 2 rounds over the course of their 3 fights and Morales is an undefeated fighter. Morales also has consistently fought the tougher opposition.
morales might have beaten opponents barrera has not beaten but barrera has beaten morales twice (some say even 3 times), and barrera also has been a champion in 3 different weight classes. of course morales has hatred for barrera but so does barrera too yet barrera is not blinded by his hatred towards morales, barrera is the smarter fighter and the level of competition he has fought has been tough too. barrera has most probably a bigger win then morales with his victory over prince naseem hamed. im not sayin that morales would lose to hamed, he most probably would have beat him but the fact is morales did not fight him, barrera did and won. morales does figth tough fights but barrera has fought tough fighters. both fighters were even when it came to boxing and the third fight just cemented barrera being the better boxer.

MAB just has morales number.... EM is the better fighter, but MAB is just all wrong for him...
How does losing 2 out of 3 make EM better? What do you mean? Like technical skills, and not wins over each other? This is a very closely voted poll here. Wow. I think Barrera is better than Morales, but not by much. They are both living legends.
I voted Morrales only because I've been a fan from the beginning (down in TJ or Tijuana for those who don't know). I've been a MAB fan for a long time now too though, so it was hard to choose one and not the other. I believe what a lot of you guys also believe that MAB has Erik's number. But isn't it always like that? You have some great thing going or what ever and then there is this person/team which you just can't beat. As far as opposition goes, I believe they have both fought hard opponents. I think Erik's career has been put on the spotlight for a longer time now than MAB's and that is the reason why more people are leaning towards Erik. I would want to see a fourth fight to see how Erik would fight against MAB. I mean he did so great against Pac by boxing and moving, do you think he would put his hatred a side to get the better of MAB? I believe if he does he wins by UD if not by late round TKO. If that happens then we can start talking about the fifth fight.
People tend to forget that MAB didn't take an easy fight for 5 whole years (2000 - 2004). This guy Fana is definately a rarity, a well-deserved rarity I might add.
This question is just too damn close to call. I would have voted for MAB a month ago, but in his last fight Morales showed that he too can fight (ala MAB vs Naz). I personally think MAB is 3-0 in the trilogy, but it just may be that he has Terrible's number.
So, my vote goes to Undecided
exactly, barrera was recognized as the peoples champion because he did not cater to belts and he hardly fought any mandotory challengers, he just would fight top fighters from about 2000 to 2003. barrera fighting fana is a rarity and he deserves a rest after his fight with morales.
both fighters have fought tough opposition but what seperates barrera from morales is that he has beaten him twice.
are you high?
Look at there carrers and compare there level of competion its not even close. Morales has fought at such a higher level its not even funny. There is really honestly no way you can make a case for MAB having a better career he's been way to up and down and hasn't fought the level of competion Morales has.
Would you like to Target the other 31 people whom voted exactly like I did? Or are we all "High" ?

Damn Barrera made a comeback since this thread started. I voted Barrera, Barrera beat Morales twice I have to base my opinion on that if your strictly talking Morales vs. Barrera.
but it's part of the game of boxing, emotions are what's driving these fighters to give it all. for fame and glory, and for money! it's a hard debate on who's better that's why i voted for undecided!
passion is totally different from emotion... emotions r much more confusing for fighters especially when they are carried by it. passion is what that's firing u up. becoming emotional could be more of a decrement than an increment. those who fight with passion r those who gets a nice receiving end.
they're both future all time greats, but i'd say morales is the better boxer of the two, barrera is a puncher, and a damn great puncher, and morales definitley has the better chin
after 64 votes its deadlock at 27 ea and 10 undecided...
at the moment, i really dont think that this question can be answered correctly, IMHO they still need to fight one more time ...
I give the nod to Morales for a few different reasons:
Quality opponents: Morales has fought tougher guys, he doesn't seem to want easy fights.
Consistency: Morales always seems to bring his A game. He is consistent. You know going in that chances are he won't have an off night, can't say the same for Barrera.
Chin: Edge to Morales again. Barrera has been knocked on his ass and outright embarassed by guys Morales has beaten.
Head to head: Edge to Barrera 2-1. The first two fights could have gone either way, but the third fight Barrera clearly won.
Champions attitude: Morales. If Morales had his clock cleaned like Barrera did by Pac, he would have been chomping at the bit to get a rematch. It seems to me like Barrera wants no part of a rematch with Pac even though it would be a very nice paycheck for him, which tells me he's scared.
Morales has NEVER showed this kind of attitude. A true champ would want revenge for a defeat, Barrera's avoiding Pac even though the big money would be there for a rematch.
IMO, Morales is better. And if there were to be a fourth fight between the two of them I would lean towards Morales taking it.
quality opponents: barrera has fought tough opponents too in kennedy mckinney, enrique sanchez, jesus salud, prince naseem hamed, morales
consistency: barrera has been very consistent in his career, the guys had over 60 fights and only lost 4 times. before barrera lost to pacman he was undefeated for over 4 years, thats very consistent. morales claimed his fight with barrera was an off night (i read that it had somethin to do with a girl he said, although i could be wrong), barrera had one off night against pacquaio yet you say you you aint sure what barrera is gonna turn up when he fights??
chin: i dont know who has the better chin but we can go with morales on this one based on the fact that hes never been KO'd unlike barrea.
head to head: like you pointed out, barrera has the advantage, he has won the series against morales 2-1 and has shown he is better than him based on their trilogy, not by much though. the fights were extremly close but barrera has shown over the 3 fights that he is the better boxer.
champions attitude: barrera has shown he has an attitude of a champion, when he got KO'd by junior jones he went straight back in the ring with him, its even debatable that he won the rematch but i wont go down that road. barrera has stated numerous times in interviews that he wants to fight manny pacquaio again and i belive he will. just because he hasnt fought him staight away, it does not mean he is scared of pacquaio. when morales lost the second fight against barrera i didnt hear him begging for a rematch yet everyone knows morales is a tough fighter and will not back down froma challenge. you got to remember too, morales was the man at 130lbs, barrera was comin off his worst beating of his career, yet he went up to morales' division when he is really a 126lb fighter, wore morales' gloves and still beat him, that says a lot about barreras attitude.
its your opinion so i cant knock it, you point out good points. IMO if they fought again barrera would beat morales, he just has his number. im sure you were saying the same thing that morales would beat barrera when they fought their third fight on november 27th so why would you think morales would win this time? what do you think would change if they fought a fourth time????
my vote's for MAB. But this is a pretty tough call.
If ever, I like MAB in a Pac rematch. That may cancel out the Pac equation and put MAB on top of both EM and Pac.
