Griffis was a decent fighter; he was definitely in shape. Tua was a tad rusty, but they just replayed the fight and it's definitely incorrect to say Tuaman is shot.
He was out for two years and he was never very sharp or accurate with his punches to begin with. Give him some time. We'll see where he's at in 2-3 fights.
Its good to see that Tua came in at a decent weight for having been out so long. I'm not sure how far he can go though if he fights 9 even rounds with Griffis, but at least he's on the right track.
I think its time for him to fight a top 10 USA fighter. Maybe he should challange Golota if he beats Brewster. I think that would be a big draw for the Polish/Russian fans.
You gotta kidding me, PAY-PER VIEW for a comeback fight of David Tua, no way. Tua should fight more often to be pay-per view and if he is succesfull then he could face Tyson. Tyson will beat him right now.
That sucks that Americans can't see it til Saturday - WHEN IT's ON PAY PER VIEW - A TAPED DELAYED PPV WITH NICOLAY VALUEV'S FIGHT THAT'S ALREADY BEEN ON PROFILBOX AS AN UNDERCARD
And it doesn't list the price on the program information
Unless your a huge David Tua fan I don't see why someone would order this PPV.
thats good for him, kinda of like a chavez vs Taylor 1, Tua has a great chin, I think if he were to fight like tyson, he can do well
do you not mean fight like a prime tyson?if he were to fight like a present day tyson that wouldn't be much better :D
Neils-I think it will be on Heavyweight Heroes and probably cost $19.95 or $29.95 but I am leaning towards $19.95 as that is what the Heroes series has ran in the past.
thanks - I had to call an operator to get all the info and she took a while digging it up too - no info on the website, either. I'm guessing this doesn't do a lot of buys...

i think tua vs tyson would be an interesting matchup right now.
and you can't compare tua to bowe right now. Bowe won his comeback fight in round 2. Tua did it in 10. Unless he gets a lot better fast, then he is going to lose his first fight against a top 20 guy.
yes but bowe beat an even bigger bum than tua beat, but even still tua looks to have faded a great deal

the only answer i can come up with as to why tua has gone downhill, is that he has been going up and down in weight the past few years and this appears to have weakened him a great deal, in the same way it did to bowe
"After nine fairly evenly shared rounds, the 10th was the one that counted with Tua’s famed punching power too much for the Colorado fighter.
Earlier, wearing black trunks with silver trim, Tua entered the arena on a platform bearing the "Tua of Duty" legend."
It's amazing that a journeyman fighter that was outweighed by 50lbs lasted 9rds,and wasn't even blownout by David Tua.That just says to me that Tua isn't even half the fighter he was in his prime.Maybe Tua should fight Tyson, and the loser retires, lol. We dont know whether the two short sluggers are contenders or pretenders at this stage in their careers(im leaning toward pretenders).
