"Oh, he faked that whole low blow thing"?!?!?! Damn man, have you never been hit low?Whether you are wearing protection or not, three or four blows like the ones that Golota fired are sure to have an effect on your nuts!
A fighter`s peak isn`t just determined by their physical abilities. Its also their mental attitude and focus, the total package. Bowe in 1992 was at his very best, as was Tyson in 1988. After these times Bowe and Tyson were still world class fighters, they just weren`t gonna be as good as they were in 1992 and 1988 respectively.
Bowe and Tyson should be judged by the same criteria as everyone else. If they take a fight before they are 30-35 years old or so, then they should be judged by the result of that fight. It is easier for me to believe that Bowe was not as good as everyone thought than it is for me to believe that the laws of aging affected him differently from the way they affect everyone else.
at this point ya, a prime bowe would have destroyed vitali inside of 3 rounds
Why do idiots keep claiming that these and those fighters would destroy Vitali in 3 or 4, when Vitali has never even touched canvas, let along been knocked out. A prime Bowe would fall to a prime Vitali, no way he would handle his style, and the punches he would land wouldn't drop Vitali. If Lewis couldn't Bowe sure as hell wouldnt.
Riddick Bowe reminds me of Meldrick Taylor...
Yeah....he is looking that way isn`t he. Its a shame, i think the Holyfield fights coupled with the Golota beatings seriously damaged his brain. His reflexes must be effected too, only when he goes up in competition will we know to what extent. He is still able to blow away a few undersized bums but it will catch up with him!
ya i saw him
that was plain stupid
he thinks he can take on both klitschkos in the same nite
i doubt he could even beat wlad
toney would even work his old fat ass over
There's a difference between George Foreman and Riddick Bowe
Foreman would always give the beatings
Riddick Bowe always took them.....
Foreman was perfectly fine when he came back and he still is
Riddick Bowe reminds me of Meldrick Taylor...
lol both klitschkos at the same time, that's funny
i like clever trash talking like that - it's just when it gets to James Toney levels when it starts to get annoying
the problem with james is he talks a lot, n i really dont understand y he getting the shot against ruiz
tru theres not much otheres
but gyz like baarret deserve it more
toney fought twice at HW
once against a 38 year old holyfield (roughly)
and against tyrell booker who ive never heard of
this fight against ruiz will determine whether he can stay in the HW division as a serious contednro
W. Klitschko was a great fighter in the late 90s, because he looked great
early on, but he unfortunately "peaked" at the point before he fought
anyone who was any good.
Wlad isn`t in this catagory. See, Wlad isn`t a shot fighter. He is still very much in his prime he just hasn`t, and never has had, a decent chin! He only got found out when a rampant Corrie Sanders jumped on his ass and KO`ed him. I believe if Derrick Jefferson had tired the same thing he might have achieved a simular result.

Anyone see him on Best Damn Sports Show calling Toney a bum and saying he could take both klitsckos at the same time

Defining a "peak" over a short period allows someone to throw out any
evidence that doesn't fit in with their prejudices. Thus, Tyson wasn't
found out by Douglas and Holyfield , he just "peaked" early. Bowe
wasn't humiliated by a good-to-medium heavyweight (Golota), he just
"peaked" at 25 rather than 30 like most heavyweights.
So I don't really like this argument. Using it, I could argue that
W. Klitschko was a great fighter in the late 90s, because he looked great
early on, but he unfortunately "peaked" at the point before he fought
anyone who was any good.
I don't understand how people go about measuring when a boxer's "peak" is. In the case of Bowe, one has to define it as being over a very short period if one wants to believe that he was a great heavyweight.
The same argument is always made on Mike Tyson's behalf .
Bowe`s peak was probably between 1991 and 1992. After the first Holyfield fight he was never as good. He had a few decent performances here and there ( he destoryed Dokes better than anyone and he was particularly good in dismantling Jorge Gonzales ) but he never repeated the form of that first Holyfield fight.
Tyson`s peak ended the day he left Kevin Ronney. He was never the same again, not even close. All the teachings of Rooney and work put into Tyson by both Cus D`Amrto and Rooney were flushed down the shitter! Tyson just got worse and worse and worse etc..

Foreman, even as an old man, had a great shot at beating Tyson. His advantages over Tyson were numerous: height, reach, chin, strength, power, and balls. He had every quality neccesary to beat Tyson.
Your right Kid Achille, but we will never know. IMO this is the greatest fight that never happened. But we still have Holy-Foreman, that was one heluva fight! :boxing:

yeah, thats one fight.... he never again looked that good and never fought another quality fighter other than holy and he never fought someone with power.... he avoided fighting lewis, moorer, mercer, tyson, ruddock, and foreman, yet all of them some how managed to fight each other...
he can say that, he just cant do it.... foreman actually was a great fighter before coming back, KO'ing frazier twice and norton... bowe was a bitch fighting bums like dokes, fergeuson, hide, mathis after he won the title...
bowe's comeback will more like buster douglas's than foreman's... and i havent even mentioned how screwed up he is in the head....
I'll remind you that Bowe did beat 4 time heavyweight Champion Evander Holyfield twice. As far as Bowe making a successful comeback, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he has a chance until someone proves him otherwise.
it would have been interesting to see... foreman could take a punch and he could give one, but so could tyson... i dont think it would have been a huge mismatch though... foreman did KO moorer and gave holy a good scrap...
Bowe is much better than Buster Douglas on the comback trail. I think he`ll break into the top 20 or even 15. Then lose to a good top ten opponent, like a Rahman or a McCline!
