Has anybody seen the fight? Eurosport televised it live.
After Bidenko was knocked down viciously in the 2nd and staggered badly in the 4th round he fought himself back into the fight and was winning when they went into the 12th round.
But can you believe it, with one minute to go Virchis unleashes some deadly right hooks and KOs Bidenko in the most brutal way. The referee had no choice but to end the fight.
Just makes you feel sorry for Bidenko who had a cut over the left eye, had hurt his right ankle while being knocked down for the first time and had an 30 pounds weight disadvantage. That kid showed some guts and all he had to do was to run for one more minute. Can't believe he blew it. So close yet so far.
Yeah that's what I heard about Virchis. Bidenko would have to big his biggest win. Who else has beat? Francis. 31 is young for current heavyweights though, so he should have a few years left in him. I'd like to see how he does against the likes of the current crop of Euros.
What happened to this guy? He seemed like a very good poster.
I don't think he'll retire. This might have been his biggest win so far. There could be some money on the table in a rematch or an encounter with Valuev.
That being said I don't think that Virchis has a great future. He's still very one-dimensional and has no defense whatsoever. He didn't even keep his hands up. His toughness and his power won him the fight. And he's pretty old, so I think he'll hang in there for a couple of euros in Germany and then leave for good.

That's too bad. I also heard rumors that Virchis was going to retire after this fight. Not sure if that will happen now, hopefully it won't though.

Yes I saw the fight live on Eurosport. I had Bidenko in front with one point going into the last round. The Eurosport commentator had it even at that point. But the fight was in Germany and all the judges were Germans. So I can assure you that Bidenko would've won if it went to the cards.
Bidenko really showed some heart and deserved the win in my opinion. Just wasn't to be.

I heard Bidenko was loosing the fight though, but it was close so he may have gotten the decision had it come to it. Did you see the fight?
