"Lacy STILL wants Bernard!
Undefeated IBF super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy has reiterated his offer to defend his title against undisputed middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins in light of comments made to the Las Vegas Review-Journal by Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, Hopkins' promotional company, that there is still no deal for a fight against Jermain Taylor. Yesterday, Schaefer stated in an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, "I keep reading where this fight is done, and I don't know where that's coming from...It sure is no done deal." Lacy said, "I just want to remind Bernard and his promoters I am a done deal and I am ready to move down to a catchweight and defend my title against him for the original purse Taylor was offered, $1.5 million. Bernard keeps talking about moving up to the light heavyweight division to fight Glenn Johnson, so surely coming up four or five pounds cannot be an obstacle in fighting me for my title." Promoter Gary Shaw added, "If Bernard really wants to fight a member of the U.S. Olympic Class of 2000, Jeff is ready to accomodate -- with a new title for Bernard too. We will not ask for a rematch clause or even options. Jeff is a turn-key package that is ready, willing and able to sign on the dotted line and make the fight."

He's not gonna get bernard hopkins because hopkins is fighting Jermain Taylor on July 16
Yeah. Sturm looks pretty big, I don't know if he has any problems making that weight (160lbs.) to make him want to move to 168lbs., but I'd want to see him fight Lacy.
I think Jermaine TAylor would bust up Hopkins if they fight the near future. I think Hopkins would have a way better chance agaist Lacy or Sturm, but nobody is even talking about those fights ever happening.
The LT. Heavyweight division is where its at right now, Lacy ought to go up there but every guy on my list would have a chance to beat him. That division is extremely tough.
That would be awesome is Lacy went to Lt Heavyweight. The light heavyweight divsision is really strong, probably the second strongest division after Jr. Welterweight. Look at the ranks of this division
Glencoff Johnson (title holder
Antonio Tarver
Zsolst Erdei ( Wbo title holder)
Clinton woods ( IBF title holder)
Fabrice Tiozzo ( WBa title holder -first to stop michalczewski)
Paul Briggs
Montell Griffin
Dariusz Michalczewski ?
Roy Jones Jr ?
Julio Ceasar Gonzales
Thomasz Adamek
Rico Hoye
Silvio Branco
Thomas Ulrich
Eric Harding
lacy would fancy his chances as he's "big" at the weight and will go to 175 before too long. hopkins is always under 160 and could make 154 if pushed. i agree it won't happen, hopkins won't fight lacy unless he's given no option. you don't need a naturally bigger man who hits as hard as lacy on you at 40.
Lacy's letting the world know he's not scared of anyone, even the #1 p4p guy.
I like Lacy's chances against some of the bigger names at 168 and 175. I imagine if he's not content with the paydays and fame he gets by fighting 168 lb. IBF mandatories, he'll jump to 175. Too bad light heavyweight's somewhat barren right now, too.
But at least there are some recognizable names there that might up his payday above Rubin Williams status. Lacy-Calzaghe, Lacy-Woods, Lacy-Briggs, Lacy-Hoye, even because of how good the first fight was Lacy-Sheika II would be decent match-ups.
If Tarver would lose to Johnson again (I thought he won their first fight...), then Tarver would have lost 3 of his last 4 HBO fights and he might, to stay in the spotlight, take a Lacy fight on Showtime.
I think Jermain Taylor-Jeff Lacy could be the "Hopkins-Jones Jr II circa 2002" dream fight here in a few years...Hopefully this one might actually come off
I would love to see that fight to

none of you know what your talking about that fight will happen gameover, neils dont know what he's talking about. by the way runw/knives everything you say is bullshit!!!!!!!
I agree GameOver Jeff Lacy will never get a shot at Hopkins at this point. Bernard wants to fight 2 more times after Taylor, against the winners of Trinidad/Wright and Johhnson/Tarver.
Lacy is just letting people know he's hungry.
I don't think 'Nard wants to jump up in weight unless it's Glen Johnson or Tarver.
Plus Lacy's contract with Showtime would make it hard to get done anyway...
