What if Wladimir went on to vs someone like Tyson after Castillo, and went on to take some of the biggest shots ever thrown by Tyson without falling, and in the end winning with 9th round stoppage. What would your opinion of his chin be?
Basically this whole notion of Wlad having a weak chin is from fans with Weak Minds. Old Jedi Mind trick only works on the "weak-minded" remember? Well when Lampley is calling Wlad's chin "glass" during a fight, and Merchant is saying he can't take a punch, then all these guys watching tv start nodding and it's accepted as fact.
The facts are he got his with pure bombs by Sanders (who is a puncher) and he got up and kept getting hit with them because of his inexperience with being hurt and lack of defense. He must have gotten hit with about 7-8 flush bombs from Sanders in that fight- and he got right up every time.
The Brewster fight will always be a mystery. He wasn't hurt- he was exhausted. He loooked like he was going to fall over on his own in the last round- BEFORE he got hit with anything.
The notion of his having a weak chin is purely a result of the HBO commentators and then message board bandwagoners who read and repeat like sheep.
You are right on the money, bro. Have some karma.
Man I must be watching a different fight because there was no fucking way TOS hurt Wlad. Wlad went down by a flash knockdown and then got up and attacked TOS. The only time Wlad was hurt was when he was headbutted and the fight had to stop.
Exactly right
Wlad has a bad chin. Sanders caught other guys with his big left (notably Hasim Rahman with several BIG lefts and Rahman will never be mistaken for George Chuvalo in the chin department) who didnt go down or flair around the ring like Wlad did. Also, before the 5th round, Brewster caught Wlad with a left hand in the 3rd round and Wlad was wobbling all over the place. Before the Sanders loss, Wlad didnt get hit with big punches b-c A) Universum didnt put him in with big punchers unless they were completly shot (Mercer) or had were unskilled glass chinners (Jefferson)
B) His opponents were so intimidated by his size and jab that they fought out of a shell the whole fight (McCline)
The what if argument is silly . . . what if pigs flied?
sanders is a huge puncher, prior to getting KTFO by lewis, rahman said that sanders hit him harder than anyone else, including tua... sanders can flat out punch, it's about the only thing he can do, because defense, stamina and jabbing are not in his vocabulary.... i dont think wlad takes a great shot, but its not fair to judge him off the sanders fight, where he kept getting up from the canvas...

Touch of Sleep Williamson almost did put Wlad to sleep and Wlad appeared so disconfident througout the entire bout. If Wlad would have obliterated TOS there would have been more hope for his career.
hurt bad by that opponent on showtime, .
This is a fugging boxing forum. If you do not know the name of his opponent, go research it instead of saying:
"That guy". What the hell?
When you ordered breakfast at Macdonald's did you say: Give me one of those things and a hash brown?
I really felt those guys in the green and white jerseys were going to beat the New England Patriots in the Superbowl.

I would have agreed with you in that statement, except for the fact in his bout after the Brewster loss he was hurt bad by that opponent on showtime, and it was not a very big punch that caused him to be hurt.
That is just silly. You are speaking of the Williamson fight in which he was not even REMOTELY hurt. Williamson caught him off balance after throwing a right hand and hit him and just knocked him off balance.
Wlad did a little half-squat and his glove and a knee touched the canvas for one second or less. Then he came back and attacked Williamson immediately- the only person hurt at all in the round was Williamson, that's why on 2 judges cards he didn't get a 10-8 round for the 'knockdown.'

his real greatness lie .
In Physically intimidating his opponents, and scaring them into quitting. He is a bully, and I gauruntee you. If Vitali Klitschko was mean-spirited and
"fought like you stole something from him" people would fold like cheap tents also. Plain and Simple.

Tyson is overrated as a puncher to an extent.
Agreed. He has a good, very hard punch, but his real greatness lie in his accuracy, ability to get inside quick, and once there, unload hard combinations with both hand on target.
Wlad doesnt have a weak chin, dude. We all know this. You're basing your idea of that on a ko from one of the hardest hitters in boxing. Sanders would have put a horse down with that shot. And Brewster, well do we really need to rehash that again? Everyone knows Brewster did nothing to contribute to Wlads loss there.

I asked you people what your opinion on his chin be afterwards, not what he has to do. You totally twisted my topic, with stuff that I didnt ask for.
Let me say this, then, Enayze:
IMO, Wlad's chin has never been suspect, so my opinion of it after a hard duel with someone like Tyson would be very much the same as it is now. As far as I can tell, Wlad's chin is no worse than any other heavyweights out there.
He should hang out in teh Kronk gym all day for like a year just fighting the meanest fighters in there with no headgear and small gloves and learning how to dog fight and get a little toughness in him, that is what he should do.
How in the hell is that going to help anything?
That will not do a damn thing. You can not strenthen your chin.
and Wlad is certainly not going to be able to take those kinds of punches. All that would do, is risk him being injured.
This is not a matter of "toughness". It is a matter of him physiologically not being able to take a punch. I have seen him rise off the canvas plenty of times. That was "tough" to me.
Let me guess: You are one of those old-school leaf-rakers arent you. You rake the leaves up into a bag, and then go dump it out again for excersise.
WTF ever.

He should go spar with Mike Tyson and David Tua everyday and get used to taking their punches, then if he ever can do that, everybody elses punches will seem like nothing to him, even if he gets knocked out like 8 times in the process.
