like the topic, why dont boxer like jcc, muhammed ali, holyfield etc stop in they prime. what drive them to continue even if they knew they are over as a boxer?, and they could get ko vs a bad boxer?.
I Think a lot of it is ego, and they honestly believe they can hold back father time just a little longer, most can't although Foreman probably did. :)
Many fighters go on too long, but when do you know when your "prime" is up. Many people said Holy should hang them up after fighting Bobby Czyz. If he had, we wouldn't have seen Tyson get demolished. (Holy should hand 'em up now, he is unquestionably beyond shot) If Foreman hadn't come back we wouldn't have one of the truly underated acheivements in sports history. Some fighters are just a joke by going on. Riddick Bowe is just pathetic. Lots of different reasons for lots of different fighters.
Im done fighting now, but yes I was. I judge and referee now. And thankyou for the compliment on my post.......... :boxing: Rockin'
cool man, and did you make it to the top? if not why not? can you tell us something about your fights?
its more than pride and money, its their job. Why does anyone do any work once they're a millionaire? They don't have to. They can afford anything so why keep doing what you got famous doing? Cause you like to do it, unless you're obligated. Or some guys I think really don't know what to do with themselves if they're not boxing.
Apollo's little speech in to Rocky, prior to fighting Drago (duh, he died after fighting Drago) in Rocky 4 speaks volumes.
"We are the warriors, Stallion. And without some-some damn war-well, then the warriors might as well be dead."
Holyfield has been boxing since age 8. He definitely doesn't know what to do with himself. He also has this delusional belief that he can be champ again. Today's heavyweights only fuel his delusion, as it isn't impossible for Holyfield to beat a Lamon Brewster type.
Holyfield would be more realistic to make his goal to get 40 wins rather than the heavyweight crown. He has won 2 of his last 9 bouts.
Damn it Holyfield, why'd you ever have to give John Ruiz a rematch? He'd be long gone if Holyfield hadn't.
good point there, its like mike tyson after lewis fight. he said i have nothing to do and dont know where to go, ffs he got 8mil$ for that fight he could do a lot. give me 1mil$ i will show you ;).
what a fighter they are specially ali, surely its the heart to took them to the top and took them down.
It's the hart(never quit) they have that took them to the top, that's when thinks go bad they don't stop because of the hart. Becomming the best is never quitting even when things go bad, and that's why if they are past it they refuse to quit it's there pride and hart, what makes them big, but it's although the thing that leaves them braindamaged.
Pride and money.
When you are the best in the world it's hard to just stop. And also they want as much money as they can get.
i dont think they get much pride, when they got ko vs bad boxer. just look at them and you know. and i dont think holyfield or ali fighted for money. so i would agree to the first one its not easy to stop. ;)
