This is not to make any excuses for Pac's loss, nor to take away anything from Erik's victory.
I have been wondering since Saturday...
WHAT IF it was Morales (not Pac) who got that nasty cut over the eye and fought practically one-eyed for 8 rounds, would the result have been different??
I just want your objective opinions and analysis, guys. Thanks! :boxing:
Just wanted a friendly and objective discussion. But, ok guys, this is my last post on the subject. Nice talking to all of you and thanks for your UN-biased opinions! :D See you in other threads!
Some Pacfans need to deal with the fact that their man lost, and quite convincingly I might add. Really people, it wasn't even that close.
I agree......

more of the "IF's"
priceless!!
Gloves, Cut , Headbutt blah blah blah.
EM won fair and square (relatively convincingly - when you bear in mind he "played" in the last) - Give EM the credit.
Props to Pac tho as well - he just lost to a better fighter.
I tried mentioning this on another thread: about the whining, and I recieved answers similar to this:
"We arent complaining, we accept his loss. What the hell are you reading?"
"Pac fans have been loyal, as well as humble in their Acceptanceof his loss to Morales"
You and I must be reading something completely different from what they are typing.

Yup I feel the same as u...in all reality by continuing to ask these questions its showing that theyre not totally accepting it...
and to abdiel2k3 ...i see what youre saying...but forget all of that man...Pac deserves a rematch cuz he hung in their and hes one of the few that destroyed Barrera.
If he would have got destroyed in the Morales fight then I can see why a rematch would be questionable
but its starting to look u guys are using that as an excuse to continue asking "what ifs" and try and justify his loss
Pac lost ...deal with it and move on
this shits starting to get sad
rematch but u guys need to accept his lost as a fair one and one

Pac could easily turn around and possibly beat Morales in a rematch but u guys need to accept his lost as a fair one and one that would have happened even if Morales had been the one with the cut
PS that cut wasnt even that bad
i think most have accepted this was def a lost
but the question now is
by how much did he lose
and since some feel it was close
and some, most :D , dont think it was close
cuz that would decide whether or not manny deserves a rematch woth morales
people say he deserves based on pure heart
so give danny williams and corrie sanders their rematch too

Great analysis! But Erik won only on points and those jabs of his played a major part on that win. Now my question is what if it was Erik who was handicapped with one bad eye like what Pac had, would his jabs still be that accurate? And with Pac having 2 good eyes, wouldn't he be able to avoid those jabs and at the same time, land more punches of his own?
Well, I guess everything's left to one's imagination. :boxing:
no becuz the jab was landin great b4 pac was cut
okay people here is a real answer:
Had Erik been cut over his left eye it would not have made the same difference as it affected pac. why?...the jab.
Pac couldn't see out of his right eye. what punches were comming toward that side of the eye? it was morales' stiff jab (and occaisional right hook) that was followed by his right straight.
now lets' flip the situation...
does pac have a jab? the type of jab that stings and sets one at a distance? or does pac have a 'feeler' jab to set up his left straight right cross combo?...better yet...did morales have to worry about the 'mailla ice' right hook? nope.
again...barerra had the blueprint to beat morales...short hooks and uppercuts to the body and to the head while keeping in close to not allow punching room for erik. Manny just doesn't have that...yet..

I scored the fight 116 - 112 Morales. It wasn`tg an ass kicking, but it was a convincing masterful win for Morales. There is no need for a rematch. pac should take some time off and recover then return to the featherweigt division against some softer opponents!
You guys also have to take into consideration the momentums was in Eriks favor up to the cut. And the examination itself took like quite a few time and let pac rest a bit.

Good fight and pac lost no excuses. However People are saying that the cut is nothing and it did not impair pac's abilities. I want them to try fighting in the ring with lots of blood trickling from their head while being hit over and over again.
No excuses! Erik is great!
But blood is a lot of salt and even a drop in the eye would be painful. What more if it's a continuous flow (not just a trickle)? It would certainly impair your vision and affect your focus and concentration. :boxing:

I have been thinking of these scenarios-
1. If both were fighting with 2 good eyes, Erik would still win on points.
2. If Erik had the cut and Pac was fighting with 2 good eyes, Pac would have delivered his punches with more accuracy and speed. Add to that the fact that Pac delivered MORE punches (as shown by stats), it was possible for him to win AT LEAST on points. Or even a TKO.
A Las Vegas doctor said the gash "definitely affected the depth of perception" of Pacquiao and that was why his punches often fell short of their target".
Anyway, Erik fought a great fight and nobody will take him lightly from now on. :boxing:
The cut had to defitnetly affect PAC, but would it have changed the outcome if it wouldnt of happend, I DONT THINK SO. Great effort on PAC'S part. but the better man won that night.
These are one of the elements of the fight that you just have to leave up to your imagination until the rematch happens. No excuses. However Pacman was winning the fight until the he got cut. That is he won 1st round, 3rd round, and the early round before the headbutt. Alot of people thought that Morales won big but most agree that the fight was close. I would love to see the rematch expecting Morales to win but knowing Pacman has a extremely good chance. they should do it again if not sooner, later.
