what if Felix Savon had turned pro?

Savon was certainly well schooled though he would be a little undersized compared to Vitaly et al...if his chin was bonafide in the pro ranks, it would certainly have been very interesting.. i wouldn't say he was undersized, the guy is about 6'6, he was a big strong guy, but i do agree with the guy who said he beat kids

Savon had an odd frame for a heavyweight, or so it appeared. Kinda weiry arms and lean. He looked built more for the amateur ranks than anything else. Probably woulda been a good pro as many Cuban exiles turn out 2 b but i wouldn't hold out anything more than that. Not sure how gr8 he woulda been able to hold up under a big punch

To answer the topic, Felix Savon fought kids. I'll give him his first, lets say 40 fights but after that, he was a grown man beating up on kids. If he turns pro nobody can really answer that question. My guess is he would've done well but don't really know. I can't see the future or what could've been, if I did then I would have made a lot of money on that Pac-Morales fight, but instead I lost my paycheck. The guy can box I've seen some of his fights. They show it a lot in Cuba. But I haven't really seen him take a big hit so that's the big question. Plus they have a headgear which helps a little.

I would love to see Castro facing Bush in a boxing ring. That would be a big pay per view. :D Castro in his prime would have beaten any US president with the exception of Teddy Roosevelt...that would have been a great fucking fight-he would have not beaten a George W. but killed him! Castro is not perfect there is no doubt but the one thing he is is tough! The guy was exiled in 1953 only too return with just a few men too storm the country by foot in 59. There are very few heads of state that push for war/revolution and then jump right up too the front lines to show you how serious and dedicated they truly are about what they have been preaching. Teddy Roosevelt did it and so did Castro and for the Fidel has a lot (not all) of respect from me. Oh by the way Savon would have sucked and Stephenson would have been a excellent fighter, maybe a heavyweight great..

Truth be told, I know very little about Felix Savon's style, I just kno about his great record and that he is from CUba. i believe he was a better boxer than lennox lewis, but lewis was a pro and he wasn't so we will never know

Not true. Roy's chin was tested vs Ruiz and Tarver in their first fight and he did well. Only after getting punched in the back of the head by Tarver in the 1st fight and getting slow did he get hit by a punch that probably would have KO'd anyone. Roy's equilibrium was messed up by losing muscle mass. Also, the only reason people talk more about the losses is because they just happened recently...that's not Roy's legacy, period. the fact is if your a truly great boxer like RJJ you don't have to have a geat chin anyway, you can rely on your reflexes, and overall boxing ability, and most of the time you don't get hit flush anyway, thats the point i'm making about savon

You could say that Savon perhaps could beat several serious top contenders, but the big question is how good is his chin. That chin has never been tested before, as far as I know Savon was knocked out once during his amateur career. i don't think you always have to have a great chin to succeed, if your boxing ability is very good sometimes it dosn't matter, look at RJJ and lennox lewis

i think he knocked Tua out cold, and Tua was out for ten minutes, but he was just a teenager then

also you have got to remember that mercer was a gold medal champion himself, and gave holyfield and lewis a very tough fight

meaning less victories none of those guys proved to be a force themselves never seen much of mercer but he dont seem like nothin special tua was completely untested golotas golota and johnson is johnson i dont think he woulda done much had ghe turned pro as weve seen amatures is way diff from the pros yes but they were top contenders, top 10 fighters, and golota has given most of the top heavyweights problems, i do however agree that the amatures and pro ranks are very different, but i still think he had a great chance

How well do people think Felix Savon would have done if he had of turned pro? i would like to see felix savon or juan carlos gomez against bush, now that i would pay big money to see Castro is way too old now. Maybe against bush senior.

i think savon would have done a lot better than that guy who bowe beat, he was masterful boxer, with good power, and i think he would have had a chance to become a succesful pro
