How good is Mohamad Abdulaev? Ive only seen his (somewhat controversial) win over cotto at the olympics, where he got gold i believe. And right now its looking like he's a very likely opponenet for cotto's june 11th date.Boxingtalk is given him some hype right now.I believe he has one loss, which is contributed to a poor ref and poor communication (diffrent languagues) in a fight that Abdulaev was appearently scoring a wide UD but took a knee when his opponent hurt him in the 10th.He looks like a powerful and focused fighter from the little ive seen of him,but he dosent have that many fights i think, seems kind of inactive, what do you think his chances against cotto are?
I see cotto by a pretty late stoppage, or also a very likely UD,whith cotto building up early lead /outboxing Abdv.
I don't care to see Cotto in with Abdullaev right now. There is no reason why he should be even considered when there are fighters like Witter, Holt, and Harris out there that would bring much more to the table.
I'd love to see Abdulaev vs Holt. That would be a kick-ass fight.

Yeah, thats the points system for you, there was some funny scoring in the recent olympics also...however, ignoring the points tally, I still think that Abdullaev did just enough. The sad thing about Abdullaev is that he's likely past his physical prime at least; that feliciano fight was a lot closer than it should have been, he looked plodding and his defence was more leaky than it used to be...
I can't see how you would regard the Abdullaev vs Cotto amateur bout controversial..Abdullaev racked up the points earlier and despite Cotto rallying mid to late, he couldnt quite close the points difference. Thats not controversial, its just close. Besides, it was man and boy in that ring, Cotto did well.
abdualev has great skills , and fights compact and disciplined like cotto .
cotto is bigger (again ...) and has more power , so cotto in the late rounds after a few good rounds
Sure he technically lost, but he was easily winning the fight at the time. He got caught with a good hard punch though, no question about that. I thought he was confused and stairing at his trainer though when the fight was stopped. If it would have gone on Clotey might have finnished him off because he had him stunned and there was some time left, but I think Abdulaev wouldve won the fight if he would have just stayed up and not took the knee.
I see Cotto pretty much overpowering, but I think Abdulaev does have the skills to make it competetive.
Cotto-Abdullaev was not controversial, it was close but not questionable IMO. Right now, Abdullaev is TKO-ed in the late rounds, he is a little too one-dimensional and hasnt developed very much compared to COtto in the pros...
I dont think that loss was a case of miscommunication. Clottey stole his heart that night.
Yeah Ive seen that said too.Havent seen it tho , so i cant really say,Im going by second hand accounts.I really rather see Cotto/Harris tho.
