Was Tyson really scared of Foreman?
Well, he was if he had any brains at all. Anybody stepping into the ring with Foreman should have a healthy amount of fear...even a 40+ year old Foreman. Anybody that can hit that hard deserves to be feared.
Tyson would more likely be scared of Foreman. Tyson always had trouble with bigger guys and Foreman eats up the little guys. Plus in Georges second boxing life he had the calm cool confidence of a christian with 4 aces. No way Tyson rattles Big George. After being schooled in mind games some 20 years before by the best, Big George may even get into Tysons head a little.
I flew to Vegas to see Foreman fight Moorer. First time I was evr on plane at that. If Foreman and Tyson would have inked a deal I would have done whatever it took and have gone anywhere in the world to see that fight. If you think Frazier got his head handed to him when he fought George, man oh man what would have happened to Tyson.
i think tyson would be more afraid of big george than big george would be of tyson. the older foreman is one of the most mentally strong fighters of the last 20 years, and that huge body of his could absorb iron mike's punches...iron mike is weak mentally, big george is strong, that's what it comes down to
Yeah it seemed like they had forever to make that fight. The way I remember it anyways. The public wanted it bad, so I believe somebody was afraid of somebody else. Im with jack-the-rippuh on this one. I think they were both afraid of each other. Plus wasn't big George hate Don King, even back then?
From what I read in that article it appears to be true, but we may never be totally sure. I think both of them were afraid of each other..
As the fight became more possible Foreman didn't want Tyson. Talk is cheap...Foreman just wanted attention.
Foreman is still extremely strong not only physically, but mentally as well. I don't think Tyson would have the power to break through Big George's defense and KO him, but Big George would have the power and height to bully Mike around and break him down. Big George by K.O. round 6, that's how I see it.
I can't really see anyway that Tyson would beat Foreman. I think it would be cool for a couple of rounds but after Tyson gets discouraged that he couldn't put Foreman down (and his game seems to turn garbage when he's discouraged in a fight) Foreman would put him down. I've never seen someone be THAT positive that they'd be dropped and win the fight.
Fight wouldn't go the distance, Foreman drops him in 5.
Styles make fights.
So does your mental mindset.
If Mike didnt think he would beat Foreman, he would never do it in the ring
Foreman would have beaten Mike anytime from 90-94. After Foreman won the title he stopped taking boxing seriously, but hey Tyson stopped taking boxing seriously after the 2nd Holyfield fight, so maybe George couldve beaten him later as well . ..
I read an interview with Foreman saying he didn't want it after the loss to Douglas as "the wings had already been picked off the fly, so to speak."
I agree, I think Foreman would have hammered Tyson.
I think Mike may have said all that, but what would have happened in the ring is a different story.
mike ko george in 2.
talk is cheap
Yeah that was an interesting read, Foreman would have smashed Tyson in my opinion.. Tyson was right when he said he is a "f'ing animal" :D He had one of the best chins in boxing and Tyson would have been right there in front of him taking bombs. Tyson would have been KO'd.
