In each of these fights, the victor was accused of getting a gift decision on popularity alone. If anyone has seen any of these fights, do you agree with the decision?
Jones v Tarver I (I agree that Jones stuggled, but he won)
Leonard v Hagler (Haven't seen it yet, most people think that Hagler really won.)
Ali v Norton III (Ali did win...barely)
Wepner v Terell (Robbery. Christmas for Wepner in June.)
Louis v Walcott I (Total Robbery. Walcott made Louis look like ass.)
judges are not aloud to score under a 10-7 round thats why pac didnt win its a rule so it isnt robbery
then i guess the other two judges broke that "rule"?? They both had it a 10-6 round for Pac (as did harold lederman).
Excuse me while I laugh my ass off...ok, Oquendo slaped Bryd around for 12 rounds.
I disagree.
I suppose you think Mosley won the 2nd DLH fight too? right?
I think DLH was robbed. Easy decision to call, not a difficult one like Oquendo Byrd.
Byrd/Oquendo reminds me of Cotto/Corley.
If Byrd knocked Fres out, people would be making all types of excuses for Oquendo.
People are blinded by their favorite fighter, and IMO....were only watching Oquendo.
Forget Byrd's punchstat numbers, Oquendo's bicycle, and Byrd's popularity (lack of).

What??You gave Bryd the decision!!
  :D
Byrd chased Oquendo around the ring in the last 4 rounds of the fight.
According to Larry Merchant:
Chris Byrd is looking like Joe Frazier out there.....something I never thought I would say.
He landed more meaningful punches at the end of the fight.
I score championship fights as 2 seperate bouts.
Bout 1: rounds 1-9
Bout 2: rounds 9-12
Oquendo won the majority of bout 1, Byrd DOMINATED bout 2.
There were points where Oquendo was almost floored. I watched the fight day before yesterday as a matter of fact.

If that was the case then Marquez won by 2 points total and in my eyes won by more than that.
JMM won every round after the 2nd. He figured Pac out, and should have been awarded the victory. I had him winning 116-112.

Big George knocked Shannon Briggs from pillar to post but the decision went to Briggs. :bsflag: James Toney got a helluva gift when he fought Dave Tiberi as well.
Worse verdict i ever saw what Sven Oktte`s 'win' over Robin Reid in their December 2003 world title match. Reid dominated Oktte and beat him up only for the judges to give the fight to the German by very wide margins!
chavez-whitaker (pea, this is one is incredible, this is probably the worst decision I can think of)
hagler-leonard (leonard, it hurts to say that cos marv is my favorite fighter, but he fought such a dumb fight and conducted such dumb negotiations on ring, rounds and anything. Leonard is a bitch anyway for never giving the rematch)
marquez-pacman (pacman, I don't think he was robbed of anything but it is unconceivable that the fight was decided by an error!! if the judge who scored the 1st round 10-7 scored it 10-6 he would have won, and there is no way that the first round could have been any different from 10-6, "I thought we could not score 10-6 rounds")
louis-walcott (walcott, this is a really bad decision, saw this one on espn classics and it was the first time I saw louis fight, I thought "what's so special with this guy?" then I saw some more luckily)
dlh-tito (dlh, not the worst one but you have to look hard to find more 5 rounds for tito)

What kills me about the Louis v Walcott decision is that Louis KNEW he lost the fight and almost immediately stormed toward the locker room after the final bell. When the "winner" knows he shouldn't have "won", then that should tell you something.

I don't believe any sane boxing fan would agree. But this is the same magazine that comes up with a new, bogus, P4P list every issue.
I totally agree. And since ive given out all my karma today.
That critique of Ring Magazine is worth the 500 im sending you.

Hagler totally won that fight against Leonard...that was a very bad decision. :boxing:
That one is arguable, the worst was the draw they gave Leonard in his 2nd fight with Hearns.
Isn't it amazing that Ring magazine called Johnson "Fighter of the Year" based, mainly, on his fights with Jones and Tarver? Those kinds of things make being a boxing fan feel dirty.
I dont agree with his ranking. And I think he is one of the most overrated fighters on the scene.
