as soon as he gets to someone like gatti, his career is all over. the day he fights someone that can take a decent shot and also give one cotto will go down. i can't believe cotto did the chicken dance after a few shots from chop chop. mayweather took his shots better than that.
he always has this mean look on his face in public, and it isn't his default face.his default face is noticeable when you watch last weeks fights over, right when it kicks off it shows him talking w/ a cap backwards and he looks completely different.
guys a good fighter, but it's lame that he makes that face all the time
hes focused.. thats all.
Anybody else wonder who was fighting Corley on Sat? That didn't look like the Cotto I was used to seeing. He only looked like himself in the 5th when he took his time.
If Cotto is in with a better finisher and fights them the way he fought Corley then he should just hang em up now.
Cotto needs to work out problems with his susceptibility to right hooks. It was sad how many he was hit by.
Corley looked very good in that fight and was exploiting weakness when he saw the opportunity.
That was a wicked shot Cotto took and he did well to stay alive against a tough vet like Chop.
That was a great fight outside of the ref and low blows.
Cotto didnt look quite the same, I agree. I think the crowd played a major part in that though, and have to hope that when he's not fighting in his own town he will calm down and fight the way he used to. That night he completely threw caution to the wind and showed very little defense; he ate far too many hooks from Corley! I still love to watch him fight, and dont have anything negative to say about his performance other than the lack of defense..he will not get away with that against Gatti, and he is in no way ready for Tszyu either..not yet ;)
how does he act hard?

I had cotto ahead by one point and he was winning the 5th obviously, had the ref not stopped the fight he would have been up by 3 after round 5.
how could he only be ahead by 1 point:
when Corley was on the canvas 3 times already?
Did you score Corley's big round a 10-5 because you were so
impressed?

Cotto actually did quite well not to go down or get stopped by that shot, him doing the Judah dance has nothing to do with the quality of his chin. He got hit on the temple which threw of his equilibrium. I liked the way he fought back even though he was still hurt.
However the fight was prematurly stopped, Corley was not even hit for the last knockdown, he took a knee to get some extra time to recover
At the time of the stoppage,
who was ahead on your scorecards?

Cotto has a good chin..He had yet to be dropped by a chin shot. The shot that wobbled him is the same kind of shot that Gatti wobbled Ward in their 2nd fight. And the exact type of shor Moorer landed on Jirov to KO him right around the top of the ear and Jirov isnt Chinny.
So they are 2 different type of shots.
Cotto does have a chin not great but its not garbage. Gatti would box him silly and knock him silly.
The thing is, Cotto has no defense. He has this face first style that will get him in trouble at the top, particularly against Tszyu. I think Cotto would be too strong for Gatti.
Hahaha, you guys are so hard on the up coming young boxers.Based on many oppinions it seems that all top 140 pounders have weak chin or beard, first Cotto last Saturday,Gatti have been KD many times and even worst,Floyd was hurt against Chop,Zoo was badly beaten by Phillips and kd many times even twice in the first round, hatton was down in the first round and hurt several times,Mitchell anyone knows what happened,I don't know about harris though. So all top 140 pounders are weak suckers then?????????
i dont like how cotto trys to act so hard now
Yup, cotto let himself get influenced by the crowd too much, if he would have just taken his time like he usually does he would have broken him down by round 7 or 8 and tko/ko'd his ass.

Willie, be quiet. This is stupid. Apart from any other contention that I have with your thesis, one less would not have ended Cotto's career.
Cotto got hit with a good shot and got a little dazed. He covered up well and backed away, which made it hard for Corley to finish him. Corley went to the body cuz he couldn't get to the head.
If Cotto has no chin how did he survive fights with Kelson Pinto, Randall Bailey and Carlos Maussa? They're all better punchers than Corley is, yet none of them managed to phaze Cotto even a little bit. And before you go saying that the reason Corley's knockout ratio is so much lower is because he fought better opposition, stop, because he hasn't. He's fought mostly second tier guys, and when he's really stepped up all the way, he's lost, same as the other fighters I mentioned.
Cotto hasn't got a weak chin, he got reckless. He also got surprised by a southpaw's punch. Note that there are not too many left handers on Cotto's record, and not too many right handers could have thrown the punch that hurt him. He got stunned, and came back and won the fight. Regardless of whether the ref stopped it early or not (and he did) that outcome was inevitable.
Finally, I'd like to say that being wobbled by one punch over the course of 110 total rounds does not mean he has a bad chin. It means he got wobbled only once despite taking hundreds and possibly thousands of punches. So who gives a rat's ass?
I think Corley deserves a rematch and I think it shows some balls going right back after the guy that had you out on your feet one minute into round three.
And from the little bits I've read here and on other sites about Harris's previous "negotiations," I don't know that I'd ever want to try and waste my time trying to hammer out a deal with him. I don't know the whole story, but past negotiations he's had just don't look good on him.
ya
if Corley, a guy with like 50% Ko rate almost knocked out cotto, i'm sure Harris, Gatti, Tszyu and Mayweather would destroy him and i hope they do...
Borikua,....your boy is going DOWN!!
