I always bring up the point about boxing existing for so much longer than football and being in so many more countries. I don't have anything against football in the least, it's just he always disses it and talks about how football makes so much more money than boxing. This made me want to research that. So I wanted to know if anyone here knew how I could look up how much money boxing and football as a sport brings in annually. I know that there are so many different sanctioning bodies and whatnot, but I'm sure that there's an estimate.
Football brings in more money than boxing because Americans have poor taste in sport. We are the only ones who make such a huge deal out of such a mediocre game. The reason? Because Americans on average are the heaviest, lardiest mothers in the world and being large is the only thing Joe American is great at.
Seriously. I knew so many people in HS who were like 6'3" and 260 lbs with not a drop of athleticism in them, but they could play linebacker in football.
Don't worry though, you're friend is wrong about what matters; boxing kicks the living shit out of football.
Truer words have never been spoken!Excellent post!

hmmm, yeah, I always wondered that....cus as far as I know, American football is just in America. I've never seen it in any other country. But boxing is in so many countries and there are so many different bodies (wbc, wbo, etc.) that contribute to the sport. So I thought that taking that into consideration boxing might actually make more than football having so much more exposure.
well think of it in a per/fight basis. DLH got 30 million for one night. The purse can be ridiculous compared to football. Tell yourslef that there are multiple payperviews being sold in 1 month. While football is free on cable. They don't even make you pay for a superbowl. But I know commercials pay mad money for a 30 sec spot. I dunno, you can look at it in different ways.
