That title does sound harsh, but I feel in my heart and also in my head that it is true. James Toney has a unique style of fighting, and it has worked on different guys, but one guy he will not be able to beat is Vitali Klitschko.
For starters, Klitschko has an 80" reach, he is 6'7 1/2'', and he weighs 250 lbs. Toney has a 75" reach, and he's only 5'10''. He is also way smaller than Klitschko, about 50 lbs real difference.
Klitschko is stronger, taller, and more powerful. Any skill advantage that Toney has will be overcome by Klitschko's massive size and decent ability of his own.
Imagine what Klitschko can do with HIS jab...

Imagine what Klitschko can do with Toney standing right in front of him. Toney's head movement will not save him, he will still get hit SOMEWHERE, and by much too big of a man.

jirov hurt him fuck face
And of course, only an idiot who thinks Felix Sturm is a great fighter would think Jirov hurt Toney in that fight. Even all of Jirov's cheating low blows didn't faze Lights Out.
Toney has never been KO'd but Roy Jones definitly knocked him down and got him hurt.
You're a fucking idiot if you think Toney was hurt at ANY point in the RJJ fight.
Toney has only been hurt once that I have seen, that was by Jirov on a body shot but he still didn't go down and responded well to it.
What most people mean when they say someone didn't get hurt is that they didn't go down or get light-headed or groggy from a punch or punches.
Toney has only lost when he was outsped, outsmarted, or outworked. He hasn't really been outgunned man to man though, and he has great defense and a great chin. The problem is sometimes he gets lazy and falls in love with his defense. There's much to be desired for his eating habits as well.
i like this one, JT only loses when he's outsped, outsmarted, or outworked...i can't see any of today's alphabet hw "champs" doing any of those to james, unless he tears ass on another tendon durng the fight
Well, I certainly hope that we'll be able to see for ourselfs one day. The arguments here is not going to get us anywhere anyway.
But I have to admit that I think Toney's smacktalk is a lot more fun than Klitschko's nice-guy-fasade...
Did he really say that?? Seems a bit hard to believe, but regardless, Steward is wrong all the time with predictions
not all the time but he does get alot wrong
I think I remember Emmanuel Steward claiming that the only guy in the heavyweight division he feared could beat Lennox Lewis, was James Toney. Now, I'm not sure if this is just my imagination playing me or not, but if it's true that he said that, then I think Toney could be able to upset Klitschko with a late stoppage, after some heavy bodywork. I trust Steward's expertise in boxing more than my own, so I reckon if he says it's possible, then it IS possible...
Anyone else who's tired of this topic raise your hand.
And southbaybboy, blow me. I know this is a hard concept for dumbasses like you to grab a hold of, but your opinion isn't the same thing as evidence. Remember to play with the balls. You know how I like it.
As for the pictures of Toney-Booker, way to go, boyo. Two punches in twelve rounds. That must have taken some serious research.
I'd argue for Toney, but I've said pretty much all there is to say, and I've said it about sixteen times. Plus, who knows, super lightweight may very well be right, and I respect his tone, and his obvious intelligence. He takes the time to actually argue his point instead of insulting someone he doesn't like. Strong work, killer.
Check out the Griffin fights especially the 2nd you'll se Toney in trouble a few times. Also the robbery Tiberi fight Toney was definetly "HURT"
Watch those fights
hmm
I'll have to look at it more closely when the DVD arrives, but it's hard to tell from the clips I've seen on the internet. Toney weny down, but speed could have been just as much a part of it.
I'll make my own judgement in a week or so.
